when i got my septum pierced at a twelve i felt sneezy and sniffely with watery eyes for days. should i expect the same during gauging?
or is it less intense?

In answer to your question, it'll be way less intense. Everyone's experience is different, but generally speaking stretching will just feel kind of tight. If you haven't already, check out BME, which has a great collection of personal experiences.
