EVER so curious, but i'm just after moving to new york and i'm looking for a good bar that'd have live bands, good music, interesting people etc, and if a kind local could point me in the right direction!

Every third Monday of the month they have something called SWIIM that I think you'll like. New York bands to follow, I know a ton of them and they often play at places that don't charge a cover and make their money off the music and merch sales. Box Of Crayons, Black Death, The Bloody Muffs, Subject of the Question are just to name a few. You can look those bands up on Facebook or Reverbnation. Black Death's site is http://www.blackdeath.us and the lead singer, Vlad Vizner puts up recommendations all the time. He's got good taste. You can tell him I said so too. lol

Try just looking in the East Village area, there's always punk bars there.
