I know in hip hop especially the more death/evil type of shit, people basically despise the commercial rappers and groups. They say the mainstream rappers arent true to the culture and therefore hated.
Is there a similar deal in metal?
"yeah thats what i keep hearing, but that doesnt stop it from being B.S."
It's not BS, it's true.
I could name a dozen of "underground bands", but what's the point?
I read the thread, and it's 99.9% fact your jokes are poop
"is Slayers' guitar player better than any radio band? yes."
Which one?
Also, better? Radio bands obviously display better songwriting skills - they're overall more popular, know the formulas and know how to make money with it.
That's why these forums are ridiculous. Making at hread about a band and asking opinions and getting mad when no one sgrees is futile. Music is completely subjective.
You like what you like. What sounds like cats in a blender to me is symphonic to you.
Except for country music.
We could all do without that forever and a day.
“Doubt fucks everything. Take a foundation, no matter how strong, sprinkle generously with doubt, and watch it crumble. Me? I’m unfuckwithable."
OP: the majority of people posting in here aren't real metalheads. They are "rock fans". Real metalheads usually reject the majority of mainstream crap bands, but that doesn't make us elitists by any stretch. Just means we draw a line at what is and isn't good metal.
It's very similar to the hip-hop scene in that regard; you have a whole lot of posers who think they are oldschool but only listen to radio shit.
Personally I disregard all the people that claim to be metal but don't like people pointing out that they aren't. You know, like half the people who've posted in this thread before me. People who wouldn't know the history of the genre, or be able to distinguish subgenres.
