The best of your Death/Thrash Metal Favourites (Or How I am must likely going too piss on everyone’s music taste because I don’t like it and think it’s shit)
Post some of your favourite Death-Thrash Metal albums at the moment and why.
No Deathcore or Cannibal Corpse stuff because I will take a massive shit on you.
1. Devastation – Signs of Life 1989 http://www.metal-archives.com/bands/Devastation/1502
Straight up this LP kicks in with an intense opening that provides a good ear bashing for 3 minutes.
The whole album is an assault to your ears with death-thrash riffs and from what I can gather I cannot hear any rhythm guitar tracks. I can only hear drums.
The first LP was quite dreadful, but somehow Devastation figured out how to play Death-Thrash and released an ever better LP - Idolatry
Favourite Trax: Signs of Life
2. Demilich - Nespithe 1994 http://www.metal-archives.com/bands/Demilich/250
No description necessary of this fukking flawless LP.
Every song is well constructed with weird-arse guitar playing and accompanied with some of the best guttural vomit vocals I have ever heard.
The first time listening of this immortal LP will leave you second guessing the direction and flow of the song will take you.
Favourite Trax: The whole album
3. Sepultura - Bestial Devastation 1985 http://www.metal-archives.com/bands/Sepultura/78
Raw, Primitive, Simplistic, Sloppy = Fantastic
Get a group of young (14 & 15) teenagers, give some guitars, a venom tape & and a copy of Seven Churches and you have Sepultura.
From what you can hear from this low budget garage quality production is a master piece and template for extreme satanic death metal. The guitar playing is simple and out of tune, the solos on Antichrist and Necromancer and long, droning and addictive and the album mix is 1,000,000 better than Morbid Visions 16 trax vs. 8 trax (Morbid Visions is fukking necro as hell and brilliantly bad!) AND the amateur death screams suits the satanic/demonic imagery.
Where did it all go wrong from here? They figured out how to play their instruments and released subpar LPs such as Beneath the Remains & Arise.
4. Attomica – Self Titled Debut 1987 http://www.metal-archives.com/bands/Attomica/7469
Another South American Death-Thrash act, but this one is unique.
Like Signs of Life; from the first song you know that this is going to be a fast thrash attack.
The mix on the album is so dirty, you can hardly work out what is being played, and when I say played, I mean chaotic. The vocals style on this release resembles your modern generic Black Metal voice, but done 7 years earlier. For fans of dirty thrash, I highly suggest this LP.
Favourite Trax: Dying Smashed & Marching Over Blood
5. Vomitor – Bleeding the Priest 2002 http://www.metal-archives.com/bands/Vomitor/6951
Where to begin with this one......
It’s fast, it’s loud, it’s well recorded and its fukking awesome.
Vomitor is one of those bands which revives the 80’s Death-Trash genre and pays tribute to the playing and recording style of that era. The riffing will remind you of Sodom and the early Bay Area Thrash scene but with heavily echo effected vocals. Vomitor is a fantastic band to see live as you will walk away with bleeding ear drums. SS Death Dealers vokills & Guitars have massive echo and delay effects which could cut glass.
To bad they are an Australian band and usually only play in Brisbane, which is where I live.
I invested about 90 minutes writing this thread!
I can illustrate that I am not a complete and utter fukk wit, but frankly, who has heard Devastation, Attomica, Agony, Defiance....... this list can go on.
Eaten back to Life is fantastic. I WILL ADMIT that.
Sadistic Indent - Is that Possessed member related?
Timeghoul - I remember you always posting timeghoul to n00bs
Midnight, will check out. If I like, I will buy. Not download like all the other Ipod generation fukktards.
ive only really been listening to D.R.I - Crossover and Dealing With It! on repeat for the past, while.
and switch it up with ludichrist - immaculate deception or suicidal tendencies self titled in between.
I'm not usually big on thrash at all but I picked up Demolition Hammer's Necrology recently and fucking hell Epidemic Of Violence is a beast of an album. It's a shame they split it across two discs in that compilation.

The best of your Death/Thrash Metal Favourites (Or How I am.....
One of the best UK bands at the moment - the closest comparison I can draw is that they sound like a thrashier version of Bathory viking-era albums. Melodic but never without losing its aggression.
I've never been a massive fan of thrash metal. The only thrash metal band that I got into recently is Toxic Holocaust. 'An Overdose of Death' is one of my current favorites.
It's more of a speed-thrash metal crossover than pure old school thrash metal but that's probably why I like it so much. Plus they're really good live.
