Power metal is a style of heavy metal music combining characteristics of traditional metal with speed metal, often within symphonic context.
The term refers to two different but related styles: the first pioneered and largely practiced in North America with a harder sound similar to
speed metal, and a later more widespread and popular style based in Europe (especially Germany, Italy, Scandinavia), Brazil and Japan
(early Visual Kei bands) with a lighter, more melodic sound and frequent use of keyboards.
As Power Metal is generally my favorite genre, I have tons of favorites, but I'll post a couple in this post and go from there.
For those that didn't know, you can download their album for free on this link, or, if that makes you feel like a leech, you can also name whatever price you'd like to give them for the album.
Just click Buy Now and in the popup enter 0 if you want to download it for free, or enter in however much you want to give them.

Only ever really cared for Firewind and Helloween to an extent ... shame I never tend to hear many local bands trying power metal as its deemed 'gay' and its all about been hardcore and all that :/
Helloween is the band that started me down the path of Power Metal.
When I first heard I Want Out, I was hooked and hunted out everything I could find that sounded even remotely similar.

I didn't even know Amberian Dawn had a new album coming out.
Looks like this came out the end of Feb. but I just found out about it yesterday.
Here's an album sampler.
Metal music, aye! It's a reflection of the old world much associated with an enticing power to make what became modern humans attain power to act, work and have great sex but also hades or hell-pact, due to what it can do to humans, cause a disorder or the inner being from which better healing can happen.
It takes training to make use and enjoy metal music as high energy stimuli constructively.
Who backs me up? Top researchers.
I still have the vinyl of Walls of Jericho by Helloween. When I met Chris Jericho a couple years back we talked about how cool that album cover is and how it's responsible for his "stage name". Chris is incredibly cool and engaging. If you have the means, I highly recomend you go see him at an appearance or a book signing or something.
I have 2 Helloween albums, both are unopened. I know that I like 1-2 songs, but damned if I remember what they are
“Doubt fucks everything. Take a foundation, no matter how strong, sprinkle generously with doubt, and watch it crumble. Me? I’m unfuckwithable."
Personally, I didn't like Walls all that much.
Keeper I & II are definitely my favorite.
I actually enjoyed almost everything up to Metal Jukebox (save for Bubbles & Chameleon) a lot more than Walls.
