Negative FX
SlapShot
Gorilla Bisquits
Good Clean Fun
Youth of Today
Last rights
Siege
DYS
SS Decontrol
Vitamin X
Minor treath
Born From pain (Not realy edge but the members are)
and allot more.
I'm pretty sure that Siege wasn't a straight-edge band.
GB and Good Clean Fun are straight up terrible.
When I think of great bands that helped to spread a drug free message I think of:
Youth of Today
Turning Point
Wide Awake
Brotherhood (seriously, that LP and 7" are ragers)
Chain of Strength
Side By Side
Straight Ahead
Release (that 7" is underated and awesome)
Hard Stance
No For An Answer
Uniform Choice
SSD
Last Rights
Slapshot
Negative FX
DYS
Confront
There are tons of great current bands playing hardcore with the message too.
Straight edge members does not make a band straight edge. Unless their lyrical theme was predominantly a straight edge one they aren't. I mean really, that's like saying "All the members of Band X are christian, so Band X is obviously a christian rock band"

Seriously, by that point Ian MacKaye was trying to distance himself from the hardcore scene as a whole (Fugazi was supposed to be more informed by post-punk and have a more "grown-up" sound).
I don't even really think 7Seconds deserves being tied into this. They had straight-edge members, but it kind of ends there
Being a straight-edge band has to do with getting across a message.
Dude with the Evil Conduct avatar (who are a great band by the way), Chicago and Boston have some great straight-edge bands at the moment aren't on that metallic tip. The Boston Strangler LP is that straight classic Boston sound (good luck finding a copy though). Noose from Chicago are awesome (good dudes too). Sorry Excuse from KC are really good (once again, awesome dudes too). Also the Shipwrecked LP is on that old Boston tip, with maybe a bit of that first wave NYHC sound (ala the Mob or Antidote)
Personally I have to be an edger, so to speak - I take medication and have a long history with psychosis and depression so anything drug related is a high risk for my mental health (and will fuck with my medication of course).
I'd rather spend my life being boring and not doing drugs than ending up killing myself or someone I love.
Once had a massive go at a stoner my friend used to date, he was bangin' on about how weed is harmless and not addictive and all that. Sure, I agree that it should be legal to grow it in the UK, but its far from harmless. Anyway this guy interupted every time I tried to tell him we was wrong, saying the same crap over and over again, until I blew up in his face and screamed that I didn't ever want to go through psychosis again. He looked pretty shocked.

I myself am bi polar though I don't take medication, and have found that most drugs just chill me out. I'm not into anything hard, just alcohol, weed, herbal highs and poppers.
Apart from psychosis I can't think if much else that is bad about weed, apart from the strength of course. But trust me Frogger psychosis is the most terrifying thing I've ever had to live with, nearly four years after my last episode and it still scares the shit outta me thinking about it.
To the guy wanting to talk about G.I./Dischord Records, there really aren't very many straight-edge records put out by that label. G.I. wasn't really an edge band per-se (but they don't get talked about enough, "Boycott Stabb" and the two prior 7"s are great).
I've been on my big summer Youth Of Today, Brotherhood, Uniform Choice, and No For An Answer kick.
But Vegan Reich and all that '90s stuff sucks for the most part. The first couple of Earth Crisis records are okay, but 98% of '90s straight-edge hardcore is not good.
The whole Boston Crew thing back in the early '80s was awesome, the original Youth Crew scene was awesome, and I like Lockin' Out scene that was cool when I first got into hardcore (and is kind of back now)
