My nose piercing healed in about 6 weeks. I usually cleaned mine 3-4 times a day. The tattoo shop usually gives you a bottle of piercing solution when you get the piercing. Dip the q tip into the solution for the bottle will last longer, don't pour it on. I would suggest getting a ring when you get it pierced. Nose studs can easily fall out. Keep the ring in there, don't take it out until its healed for it could get infected.
It depends on whether you are considering wearing a ring or a stud! The placement of the hole depends on that (rings are generally pierced a little lower down). Also, the hole heals at a different angle depending on whether the bar through it is curved or straight. If you're unsure about whether you'll want to wear a ring most of the time, I'd probably recommend getting it pierced with a stud.
I got my nose done about a month ago and its best to go with a stud, I say this because my friend got hers done with me and got a ring and hers is infected, its not due to lack of cleaning because she's ocd about it and is constantly cleaning it, there is the possiblity that its just different peoples bodies take things differently but she thinks its the ring.

I don't think so, at least not if it was done properly. You pierce with a needle the same size as the jewelry you intend on using.
Was this done professionally or not? If it was I suggest finding a new shop. That's a red flag mistake.

Sounds like that guy was not prepared to do the piercing.
I have had a piercing done at one size and it ended up needing size smaller jewelry in order to work. And that was coincidentally the one piercing that I should have walked away from at that point.
I even got a piercing done from one of her apprentices years later and that piercing also failed me. Lesson learned, some shops don't deserve your body.
