Why not just one 2 TB? Seems a bit safer. Risk of one of one HDD failing vs risk of one of four. Not to mention less power consumption, more space in case and freed up SATA ports.

Tony: I like her name, Ethel, it's strong, distinguis--
McGee: I have fallen and I can't get up.
Tony: Laugh all you want. I think Ethel and I really have something.
McGee: Well, there are antibiotics for that, Tony.

Why lose access to your videos? Ethernets, mang. Gbit ethernet has transfer speeds higher than mechanical drives can reach, so it's not even a performance issue.

I'm using a spare comp for now after my old faithful finally gave up...
I have however acquired another computer that's useless to me (my sister bought it for me without asking me if it was any good for what I wanted).
So here's what I'm using for now:

I'm sure I'll sort out an upgrade soon but for now that's what I have.

HP notebook d-somethingsomething, running 32-bit ubuntu 10.04 LTS on an AMD dual-core processor, don't know how much ram (a modest amount). 250 G hard disk.
average.
internal temp (if you're at all interested) is holding steady at about 122 F (50 C for all you metric people out there). runs kinda hot for an obsolete piece of crap that's never been overclocked
my 2007 mbp died (gfx failure) so i got myself a new 2011 macbook pro 15" and found myself lucky to get rid of lion and reinstall snow leopard (with some hassle)
Just started upgrading my stock standard HP Pavilion s5750z.
* CPU: AMD Athlon II X4 640 (3.0 GHz)
* RAM: Upgraded from standard 4GB to 8GB (8GB more to come, soon)
* VID: Upgraded from onboard Radeon HD 4200 to NVIDIA GeForce GT 520 (2GB VRAM)
* AUDIO: E-MU 1010 PCIe card attached to E-MU 1616m external digital studio (incredible sound, also great for recording music).
* HDD: 750 GB SATA (main drive)
* External Drive: FreeAgent 1TB USB 2.0 drive.
* Operating System: Windows 7 Home Premium SP1.
Serves my purposes, but wouldn't mind upgrading it to it's full potential...

Got it hooked up to my 500W speaker system too. I did have a Radeon 6850, but it kept on messing me about. I thought it was a driver problem but when I sent it back it was a hardware issue, so I moved to Nvidia instead. I plan to get liquid cooling and overclock to 4Ghz and possibly up my RAM to 16GB. Probably MUCH later on I'll get a better GPU
