Why 4 500 GB HDDs? I assume they're RAIDed.

Why not just one 2 TB? Seems a bit safer. Risk of one of one HDD failing vs risk of one of four. Not to mention less power consumption, more space in case and freed up SATA ports. paranoid

Why lose access to your videos? Ethernets, mang. Gbit ethernet has transfer speeds higher than mechanical drives can reach, so it's not even a performance issue.

I'm using a spare comp for now after my old faithful finally gave up...

I have however acquired another computer that's useless to me (my sister bought it for me without asking me if it was any good for what I wanted).

So here's what I'm using for now:

Intel Celeron E3300
2GB of DDR3
Nvidia GT 440 (Retail Overclocked)
300GB hard drive
DVD RW
Hitachi 32" HDTV screen
Saitek Eclipse Keyboard
Cyber Snipa Intellimouse 2400 DPi Mouse

As you can see I have almost no clue what's inside this thing (only parts I put in it are the graphics card and wireless card)... the computer my sister got me is an Acer X1430

I'm sure I'll sort out an upgrade soon but for now that's what I have.

Toshiba satellite

Has a mouse, a keyboard, some speakers and a screen. Pretty sure I hear a fan spinning when I turn it on.

Oh, and most importantly, it receives Internet waves.

HP notebook d-somethingsomething, running 32-bit ubuntu 10.04 LTS on an AMD dual-core processor, don't know how much ram (a modest amount). 250 G hard disk.
average.

internal temp (if you're at all interested) is holding steady at about 122 F (50 C for all you metric people out there). runs kinda hot for an obsolete piece of crap that's never been overclocked

Isn't there a slot for a graphics card, Infinity_13? If so, a new graphics card would have sufficed.

Just started upgrading my stock standard HP Pavilion s5750z.

* CPU: AMD Athlon II X4 640 (3.0 GHz)

* RAM: Upgraded from standard 4GB to 8GB (8GB more to come, soon)

* VID: Upgraded from onboard Radeon HD 4200 to NVIDIA GeForce GT 520 (2GB VRAM)

* AUDIO: E-MU 1010 PCIe card attached to E-MU 1616m external digital studio (incredible sound, also great for recording music).

* HDD: 750 GB SATA (main drive)

* External Drive: FreeAgent 1TB USB 2.0 drive.

* Operating System: Windows 7 Home Premium SP1.

Serves my purposes, but wouldn't mind upgrading it to it's full potential...

Null Factor's 6th studio album titled, "Anticitizen" is now available at http://www.nullfactor.com/store.php. Grab the version that fits your budget: versions starting at 99-cents US.

Built my new computer a month or so back after so long of planning

i7 2600K Quad @ 3.6Ghz
8GB DDR3
60GB SSD (Windows 7 install)
2TB HDD
Nvidia GTX 560
Samsung Blu-Ray drive (don't think BD-RW though)
Samsung 24" LED

Cyborg Saitek V7 keyboard
Cyborg RAT 7 Mouse

Got it hooked up to my 500W speaker system too. I did have a Radeon 6850, but it kept on messing me about. I thought it was a driver problem but when I sent it back it was a hardware issue, so I moved to Nvidia instead. I plan to get liquid cooling and overclock to 4Ghz and possibly up my RAM to 16GB. Probably MUCH later on I'll get a better GPU

I also have a lava lamp :-D
