I was wondering if Xperia phones are any better than HTC phones? I heard one Xperia phone has a 16mp camera with really advanced features, but only in Japan... Can anyone with experience with these phones tell me about them?
Sony phones have great cameras typically but do you need a 16MP camera?
HTC phones are pretty good too but depending on the phone you get the camera may be a bit crap... The Desire HD has a decent camera though.
Sony tends to make the same mistakes time and time again with their phones though... like non standard cables / cards... The HTC uses a slightly wider and thinner Mini USB connection than the most common one (same as Kodak uses)... I'm not sure if that's going to be the new standard or not.
My suggestion would be to go to a store and try the phones out... Remember the thing with the camera is how quick it takes the photo and how clear it is (the Wildfire has caused me to miss some great shots due to camera delay). Also the Megapixels only matter if you're going to make use of it... what you want to look for is if it has optical zoom (optical is better than digital).
However if you're not bothered by the camera too much you'll want to check the basics like connections and card types, internal memory (this is a big thing if you like your apps), screen resolution etc.
Kryss, the USB is micro USB and is very very common now actually. HTC did have a different version of the MiniUSB before but any miniusb would still work with it.
I'd choose HTC because of build quality over the Sony.

Ummm the connections are different to all the other USB devices I have - Here's a pic...
HTC cable on the left and standard mini USB on the right.
The one on the right is too narrow and high to fit... the HTC one fits the Desire HD and Wildfire as well as our Kodak Camera but the one on the right fits our old camera, the PS3 peripherals, my webcam, my new Cyborg Lights and a lot more...
They're not the same and you can't use either type with your products - one or the other only.
I already have an HTC EVO 4G, so I know much about it. I don't need a 16mp camera, but I do like more, lol. I'm not too focused on the camera though, mainly the way it runs. Smoothness, Speed, Battery, UI, so on... Just to see if the latest Xperia is better than the latest HTC.
I was just saying that the newer HTC phones use MicroUSB and the old ones use MiniUSB. More just saying that HTC never really had a proprietary cable.
Just to add, MicroUSB is becoming the standard for phone chargers. Partly because the gubment was like "pick a standard fucking cable or we'll do it for you".
> They should do that with everything... One cord, for everything.
Actually, the reason its happening on phone chargers is because the EU made a law that all phones must be able to use a standard charger. Good call, they should definitely do the same for laptops, mp3 players etc.
