"One of the producers of Saw 3D aims to bring another horror franchise back to life -- and, yes, in 3D.
Bloody Disgusting reports that Saw series producer Marc Burg will team with Carl Mazzocone to make Leatherface 3D, the latest sequel to The Texas Chainsaw Massacre.
"Word has it that Lionsgate and Twisted Pictures are putting the finishing touches on Debra Sullivan and Adam Marcus screenplay for Leatherface 3D. We're told that the plot picks up immediately where Tobe Hooper's original left off before flashing forward 35 years. There's buzz of a 'cult' involved," says BD.
It was reported last year that the film will follow a relative of Leatherface's who encounters him decades after the events depicted in the earlier films, and that the movie will be more urban and that cannibalism will play a big part in it."
So they hired Adam Marcus to pen the screenplay. The same guy who wrote and directed "Jason Goes To Hell"
I actually loved the second one, Chop Top is almost as creepy as the Hitch hiker, and I LOVE the hitch hiker.
The Next Generation was made to be cheesy, but I think they overdid it, because it was just atrociously awful... Not a single chainsaw death!
I think Tobe Hopper wanted the sequel to be more of a parody of the original, but I just didn't find it all that amusing. One of my main problems in part 2 was the design of leatherface. Just wrong. I'm not surprised Gunnar Hansen decided not to reprise his role. I have the same beef with how Myers looked in Halloween part 4 & 5.. the mask is 2 times the size of the actors head!
But I agree with you about the original, it really elevated the horror genre.
i've said it again and i will say it again, the trend of movies doing the "whole" 3D thing. is after the success of Avatar (yes that's right) in 3D. and this is merely just based on my opinion. I don't recall any "movies" on world wide release doing the 3D thing, before Avatar (in 3D).
