I had a boyfriend once who told me I should listen to some bands. NOFX, Reel Big Fish, Chocking Victim, Leftover Crack. I did, and I liked them.
I was walking by a place in my town called Oddfellows Hall, and saw a bunch of people standing outside dressed like me.
I got out, asked what was going on. Turned out, it was a punk show, with local bands playing. I payed the $5 door fee, and I've been going to ever punk show in town ever since. I've even seen RBF (ska, I know).
I'm currently addicted to Johnny Hobo and the Freight Trains.
I've listened to punk my whole life, and didn't know it. my dad always listened to rancid, the clash, ramones, lars frederiksen and the bastards, and allot of other stuff. then I realized about 7-8 grade my favorite bands we're called punk and it sprung from there.
My babysitters got me into it in the early 90's. I never grew out of the music, but then again; I love all music. I went to warped tour '06 when they claimed they were bringing punk back. Atleast a few good ones played!
Op Ivy. My friend gave me a tape he had copied for me in primary school. I used to like Ska and reggae, so he gave me that. I then checked out Rancid, and the rest is history.

They only bring pop punk and ska bands there, that's not bringing back punk.
Altoona had a real great punk scene. Like when you see those pictures or movies with the scenes that have all thos punk rock kids partying and shit. That's what it was like. We partied all the time, wandered around town causing trouble, respecting senior citizens, and breaking into old buildings to drink forties and have unprotected sex.
It was a great scene. I saw it and was like, that's for me.
I had listened to a bit of punk before, a lot of the more popular punk bands everyone knew. The scene got me into the music, not the other way around.
I was one of those Greenday noobs in grade 7 just when American Idiot came out.
I was really political and liked the music video, afterwards I discovered junk like Hawthorne Heights and worked my way backwards into 90s emo bands, which led me to 80s bands like Black Flag, The Bad Brains, ect.
I basically filtered through alot of shitty trends before I matured a bit.
I wanted to get a friend Lady Gaga tickets cause she's like in love with her, so I went online and looked. I flipped cause tickets for nosebleed seats were 50 bucks. I thought paying 20 bucks was horrible to go see a band, but 50 to sit way in the back?!? That's ridiculous! I like punk because shows are so fucking cheap. I would never in a million years pay more than 20 for a show.
i pay a lot to see bands that are worth it. paid 25 for SLEEP and SWANS.. paid 50 for Wutang haha, i normally wouldnt, but its fucking Wutang. they dont dissapoint.
well, i wanted to be fucking different then the others, simple as that i was searching myself in many styles and music... when i heard bout punk i found me in it ^^ oh yea... mother had some influence in that part too...
i started smoking meth, met some people in the scene through it who played in some awesome bands. andit started there. now i just smoke weed,,but i still love punk.
I got made fun of alot
cuz I was weird geek and didn't fit in
Really loved the whole punk fashion
it was so alien and it amused me how people were disgusted by it
these "punk" kids would pick on me
i didnt understand why
its not like i was pretending to be anything then,
started doing research on the internet
listening to band names on peoples t shirts
Really could relate to everything punk rock stood for
the lyrics, the music it was my life.
soo started saying fuck you to everyone
and didnt give a fuck what they said anymore
and now i am the person who i want to be
thanks to punk music.
Its funny now that the kids who were punk back in school
weren't really punk and now they like...you know mtv craplol

I think my mother being a hippie had a lot to do with it. I hate hippies. I hate my mother. I love hippies. I love my mother.
Punk is probably as close to hippie as it is far from it. Like if you drew a line from hippie to punk it would be a long line, a really fucking long line, but the line makes a circle.
