I was one of those really annoying "metal" kids before I found out what punk really was. I used to listen to Sum 41, Blink, Good Charlotte, and all those really poppy bands that think that they're punk.
Anyway, in 9th grade I came to my senses and found out what real punk was and I have been in love with the music and the scene ever since. I wouldn't trade it for the world because it has opened my eyes to a lot of issues that the world faces. In a way it made me grow up.
I love the freedom that comes with the attitude.

I didn't pay much attention to the news or politics before I got into punk because I didn't care, but when I started listening to political punk, I wanted to know what the hell they were talking about.

I don't listen to it much anymore, but that is what I got into first. And yeah, it is really passionate, and I guess that is why I can't give it up completely.

So you like being different...like everyone else? Punk is a uniform.
I was watching some programme about Northern Ireland, and they played "Alternative Ulster" by Stiff Little Fingers and my dad had an Ian Dury CD, both helped me get into punk
I had Piczo (I was young and naïve...) and someone on there had a "what is punk?" kinda website thing. It was okay-ish, minus one or two bands. She had songs and bands and DIY advice and it sparked my interest.
The internet is a place of wonders and stalkers.
I got into the punk scene from going to local shows. There are bands like The Misfits and The Ramones who got me into the music, but nothing beats seeing a raw set from up-and-coming musicians. Plus, I get to hang out w/ these kids and party it up
