Here you go guys. Discuss away. But we have a few ground rules that are as follows:
All forum rules apply to this thread.
Pictures of mods go in the picture sticky. Some exceptions will be made (i.e. "This is what I'm working with for my new tattoo, give me some feed back", "Look at this omfg horrible mod I found on the internet", "[+Tumorcorns]")
No drama. Everyone has different views on what looks good as far as mods go. No personal attacks about ink or piercings. (This rule can be bent in cases of "Hai gaiz I'm 16 and just tattooed a HUUUUUUGE spider over my fayce!!!!eleven!")
This thread DOES NOT have to be solely about mods. Get to know each other. I've posted in this forum for over 3 years.... Hell I'm a mod ffs.... And I don't know half your names.
In order to not intimidate any newcomers, at 50 pages we will do a clean up, leaving only the last 5 pages.
started in late May. been going in once a fortnight. Should be done before or in October.
My Artist works fast, so counting hours is not realy a good way to messure the work.
I don't know how I would feel about an artist that works fast .
Not saying that your artist has poor quality of work, I just don't see how doing a fast job is a good job. I also don't know what your definition of "fast" for getting a tattoo is compared to a normal rate
But that's just because when I work quickly I always oversee something that would have been easier to deal with if I had only slowed down a little bit to begin with.
I have a psychosis and I am asked if I would like to allow testing to be done on me, in the name of mental science. I was asked to be paid to have an MRI done whilst I answer questions...
I could not do this due to having copper metal coiled in my hair and metalic piercings.
I rejected $200 Aus because I did not want to remove piercins or strip my hair.
Would you rather keep body mods no matter what?

Seriously, retainers are good to have for all your piercings in case you need an MRI for medical reasons. I had ten piercings at the time I needed mine.
You've got sucker's luck.
Does it feel like a trial?
Does it trouble your mind the way you trouble mine?
I agree with Lyss, if it's for medical reasons it's always good to have retainers.
I had to remove 7 piercings when I was knocked out in order to have my wisdom teeth removed. In the end I put my health first because without it well what will I have?
It wasn't that hard to put them back in either. They kinda giggled when I asked for a pair of surgical gloves so that I could remove my smilie. But they were much more happy that they were able to remove the nasty abscess brewing under one of the teeth causing me to be very ill.
I always wonder though about those who have microdermals and MRI's. Do they use a different type of metal?

I was actually told by the tech that you didn't need to remove piercings for MRIs and that is was an urban legend. There is a magnet of the same strength and type that they have to test them to be sure it's safe. None of my piercings reacted to the test one but I didn't want to risk it.
Though, if they are implant grade SSS, they shouldn't react because people with pins and stuff have to get MRIs to make sure they're in the right spot.
You've got sucker's luck.

Heyyy...so I know I haven't been around in forever, but I had this new tattoo idea and I was wondering if you guys could help me on placement. Keep in mind I'd like it easily covered for teaching and whatnot, but that some visibility is ok [i.e. if you can only see it when I wear shorts/a tank top, that's fine]. Most of my 'teacher clothes' won't be revealing enough to show much leg/shoulder.
Anyway, it's a text tattoo, and I haven't decided on font or anything yet [I know Lyss is a whiz with fonts though...] but the words are "Musici, non tacete" or "Musician, do not be silent."
I was thinking around the ankle? Can ya help me out gang?

Yeah I thought about that Alisha, but I want the saxophone design to stand as one piece, because I feel it's very integral that it be the ONLY thing on my back.
And I never thought about ribs... that could work!
Adamfire, it would be relatively small, and I like a more flowing, handwriting-like font. Doesn't have to be cursive, but it might end up being cursive.
Right now I only have the fonts on Microsoft Word, but I like Monotype Corsiva a la:
Ok, another tattoo I'm planning [the saxophone one]. I didn't figure this needed it's own thread but here's the deal...
I want this tattoo to be so realistic that it literally looks like I am a saxophone, if that makes sense. So I need the artwork to be highly detailed and it'll probably be pretty tedious to draw. My friend [a photography major] helped me get some shots of the saxophone today to take to someone to draw. Would it be more advantageous to A] Find an artist and pay them to draw it, then take said drawing to the tattoo artist or B] Try to find a tattoo artist willing to undertake the drawing AND inking of this project?
Thoughts? Sorry I'm full of questions this week.
I have only had one tattoo done by my tattoo artist that the apprentice had given a ROUGH sketch of. Everything else I have worked with the tattoo artist, getting everything the way I want it. So option B is what I suggest to the fullest. That way they have a full understanding as to what you want.
Ok, sounds good. Like I said, I just want the drawing to be absolutely perfect and I know I'm going to be a picky bitch about it, so I wasn't sure if I should ask someone who SPECIALIZES in drawing, or just put the tattoo artist through the ordeal. I feel bad, but...this is like THE tattoo. I've been planning it for about 3 years, it still won't happen for another year and a half or so, and it's hugely symbolic of the last 10 years of my life. So...yeah. /:
I mean there's nothing wrong with getting a drawing of what you want, no matter how precise it is to work from. But I would imagine that the tattoo artist would have to have some previous work of the style you want.

How long does it take a cartlige piercing to heal? I got three (ear weaving) done about a month ago and wondering how much longer I got to go before I don't have to worry so much about it.
