Since Valentines Day is coming up... what are some songs about love (good or bad) by our beloved bands and musical artists within the gothic subculture? Please discuss, post lyrics, song links, personal insights into these songs... anything that has to do with this topic. Gothic couples (and singles), what are your songs?
"Shivers" by Boys Next Door isn't really a love song, it's an unrequited love song, written by Rowland S Howard when he was sixteen (before he joined the band -- BND were pretty much little more than a power pop cover band prior) for/about a girl he had a crush on, but who rejected him. Hell, the lyrics and bittersweet delivery is enough to cement its status as "not a love song".
As for anything I'd actually add to the list, I'm actually surprised that nobody thought to mention The Lords of the New Church - "Dance With Me" yet.
...or "Magic Bus" by The Who, but hey, nobody's perfect.
Charlotte Sometimes - The Cure, I believe. From what I interperet is about the affection toward a lover that doesn't either 1. know he exists, or 2. doesn't love him back anymore. Correct me if I'm wrong.
Damaged People and Nothing's Impossible - Depeche Mode
"Putting Hole in Happiness" - Marilyn Manson
I know that he isn't a 'Goth' musicician but these lyrics are in the romantic and the more Goth side of the music. I think it's perfect so just listen to it.
