The Cocteau Twins and This Mortal Coil fall under gothic rock, it just depends on the album and/or songs. Both bands were known to bounce around between gothic rock, ethereal, and dream pop. The same can be said about Dead Can Dance. Their earlier work was post punk/goth, then they just started expirementing with all sorts of styles.

As for TMC..

Next to Song to the Siren.. this comes in at #2..

Twisted sister's video be chrool to your school is pretty morbid featuring Alice cooper,zombies and Dee snider is a vampire in the video. besides that one There are lots of David Bowie songs who are gothic rockish.David Bowie also influenced Bauhaus in a way.
