The Doors were an American rock band formed in 1965 in Los Angeles, California by vocalist Jim Morrison, keyboardist Ray Manzarek, drummer John Densmore, and guitarist Robby Krieger. They were considered a controversial and influential band, due mostly to Morrison's cryptic lyrics and unpredictable stage persona.

To some extent it's a good thing he died, because he never got a chance to fuck up The Doors. They remained good, instead of selling out/making a shit album. I really get in moods for them sometimes. Loving The Soft Parade atm.

True death makes you a bigger star.
Just look at Hendrix,Janis Joplin and Kurt Cobain.

But The Doors still would be seen as one of the great bands of all time if Jim never died.

For sure the best band ever out of the USA. paranoid

Hendrix was good with Noel Redding and Mitch Mitchell.
After they left he did nothing but played his old songs.

The Doors never sucked in the 4 years they were around.
4 years 8 records,pretty sweet.

Jim Morrison is indescribable. You really have to sit down and listen to some albums, if not rarities.

The Lost Paris tapes is amazine aside from the last recording session which is pretty much junk.

i disagree with the whole death made them famous. Although, all too true with most bands and individuals, I feel that death didn't so much as immortalize them as much as it removed them during their prime.

Had Jim and jimi more time to create, their music would have evolved with their age. Thus giving way to a different side. A side we sadly missed due to their youthful disregards. A side possible more personal and in-depth to "why" and "how."

I agree with half of that.
I think Hendrix peaked and it was only going to go downhill if he never died as far as his solo music goes.

But I could see him doing what Clapton did,starting a few short lived bands here and there and I think he was thinking about doing that.

Before Hendrix died he was going to be a part of Emerson,Lake & Palmer,a super group named HELP.

I really like The Doors, I love the atmosphere in their songs. His voice is haunting and the lyrics are excellent.

has anyone seen any of the Doors' tribute bands? I'd quite like to see one, but not if they're rubbish! :-)
