I know there's no exact way to sound like someone. Though every now and then, we do sound similar or have experiences were we may sound like another singer
But if I'm so inclined to sound like Cam Pipes from 3 Inches of Blood, I can.
And OOOOH how I'm inclined, haha.

Wrong focus, wrong methods.
This way you'll never get me.
Exclude flesh, include mind.
And drift along with me.

I try not to sound like one person. All the greatest performers actually put on a bit of a specific voice, intentionally. IE, Brian Molko from Placebo goes flat at pauses. It draws your attention to the breaks. So it's not too hard to simply play on that and do one or the other. I've been told I sound like Tim Skold, Pig, Marilyn Manson, Trent Reznor, Jeff Scheel, Ohgr, Wayne Static, Rob Zombie, Spyder One... just goes on and on.
I don't try to sound like anyone, since I believe many of us have our own unique qualities.
However, I have been compared to the lead vocalist of Front 242 (I get that comparison the most), a bit like the "Hau Ruck" era of KMFDM when recording my harsher material, Trent Reznor (though, I kind of don't hear it at all), Manson when recording my profane and scream-esque material (again, I do not hear it), the late Peter Steele, Das Ich, and my 1980s darkwave material has been compared to the lead vocalist of classic Ministry. These comparisons are just from people who have commented on my music when it used to be posted on Acid Planet and other music networking sites. On Jango.com, I was once compared to Alice Cooper, but I seriously don't hear it. If this list confuses anyone due to the extreme differences between the aforementioned artists, it's only because I really do produce various different genres until I can figure out which style fits best with me.
But overall, I'd like to believe that I do not sound like anyone at all. I've never heard anyone sound like me before. I've been told I have a unique sound. Who knows? I just try to be myself, more than anything.
I don't think my voice itself really sounds like anything I've heard so far, but I've been told a few times that my singing style can be similar to either Pink or Sophie Ellis Bextor, depending on the song of course. (I have Sophie's English accent and Pink's slightly rough sound).
Kind of John Davis ish. I have discovered with some computer manipulation(drop pitch add chorus and reverb) and lowering my voice I can get kind of close to Peter Steele. Currently working on my range though. I just got into singing if anyone has some tips I would appreciate it.
Very generous people have compared me to David Bowie and Peter Murphy (Bauhaus) when I actually sing to acoustic guitar.
Though over electronic music I sound more like Nivek Ogre (Skinny Puppy) meets Laibach. Over hip-hop or punky music I sound a bit more like Peter Garret (Midnight Oil).
I am also developing my abilities to sing heavy rock with a scream like Robert Plant's early Led Zeppelin - nothing recorded yet though.
when I compose music are always guided by what I hear ... but inevitably influences come out .. is a normal thing! sung for my ... I'm compared to many Nocturno Culto
I've been compared to Ash from Nargaroth, Korn's Jonathan Davis, Marilyn Manson, Ruben Block from Triggerfinger, Alex Turner of the Arctic Monkeys and Johnny Cash.
But then again, I tend to be inspired by one and then automatically tend to copy that specific sound.
