::: THE RULES (One Thread Per User) ::: [updated 6/21/2010]

Welcome to the VF.com Message Board.
If you are new here THEN WATCH THIS FIRST!

THE ENTIRE MESSAGEBOARD RULES APPLY TO EVERYONE! read here

DO NOT..I REPEAT DO NOT POST LINKS TO YOUR WORK. IF YOU WANT A THREAD FOR LINKS TO PUBLISHED WORKS, ASK AND PERHAPS ONE WILL BE ADDED. UNTIL THEN, DO..NOT..POST..LINKS!!! ALSO, ANYONE PERPETUATING DRAMA, FLAMING OTHER WRITERS, ETC. -WILL BE GIVEN A SHITE TITLE AS A WARNING-. IF IT CONTINUES, YOU -WILL BE BANNED FROM THE FORUM-.

IMPORTANT NOTE:

PLEASE KEEP ALL POSTS AT AN NC-17 RATING IN CONTENT!! ANY THREADS WITH EXPLICIT (X RATED) CONTENT WILL BE DELETED!!

THIS INCLUDES EXPLICIT(X RATED) SEX AND VIOLENCE/GORE. IF YOU ARE NOT SURE, ASK BEFORE POSTING!

ANYTHING WITH RACIST, HOMPHOBIC OR OVERLY SEXIST CONTENT WILL ALSO BE REMOVED!!

  • Keep all of your writing (poetry/prose) to the same thread. Click the "edit" button that appears under your name and add your new piece...changing the subject of your thread if you feel necessary. MULTIPLE THREADS WILL BE DELETED WITHOUT WARNING. THE ONLY EXCEPTION IS WHEN SOMEONE IS POSTING CHAPTERS TO A BOOK AND THEY HAVE MORE THAN ONE BOOK (this does NOT include 'short stories;, they need to stay in ONE thread).

A NOTE ON PROSE: PLEASE KEEP ALL PROSE POSTS TO LESS THAN 5000 WORDS. IF YOU HAVE MORE THAN ONE CHAPTER, POST IT LATER IN THE THREAD SO THE ONE POST DOESN'T TAKE UP THE ENTIRE PAGE!!

**To clarify: this does not mean you should wait for your poem/prose to be bumped back to the second or third page, then it's okay to start a new thread. Your most recent thread will be deleted, and it will be up to you to go find your other thread and bump it.

  • If you cannot find your thread on the first page, or if you can't remember if you have a thread at all, you can browse through the forum pages OR click the "forum info" button that appears underneath your avatar (icon) when you post.

***Or you can simply use the search box located at the bottom of the forums. Type in your user name or the title of your poem/prose/thread etc.. and it'll show up in the list of links.***

Also note that the Forum Social thread is not the place to post your work. It's a place to socialize with other regular members of the forum.

  • Free style threads are not allowed. They will be locked/deleted when we get the chance. There's a sticky for your free styling, for poems and lyrics at the top of this forum. Use it only.

  • The Writers Forum is for Poetry/Prose/Lyrics. Anything else will be deleted. Please put roleplays and essays in your journal.

**This means, absolutely NO POLLS! They will be deleted on sight!

  • Use a spelling/grammar check BEFORE you post your work. I understand that many of you are just trying to express yourself, but please do it like someone who's had a junior high education.

  • PLEASE try different themes. It gets really tiresome reading 100 different works about 'cutting' and 'death'. Being emo is so yesterday. Grow up.

  • PLAGIARISM is NOT allowed. Copying someone else's work is dishonest, and against the law. If a moderator finds your work is someone elses, it will be locked/deleted. Please only post work that is your own, not your friend's, not your favorite author's.

  • CRITICISM HAPPENS. If you can't take it, don't post here. This does NOT mean you are allowed to flame someone for their work. However, if you think it sucks, feel free to say so...but please give constructive criticism, so the writer can use it to improve on their work.

  • Do NOT post your work if it is not backed up. You have been warned and the staff will not be held responsible if your work is lost or thread deleted.

  • Last, but not least - NO SELF PROMOTION. A few people felt it necessary to comment on every peice of work on the first page, saying: "that's relly gr8! chek out mine!1" There's nothing wrong with telling your friends you have a new work up, but please comment on others' work only if you have something constructive to say. If you are seen to be doing otherwise, your comments will be deleted, and you will receive a warning. Go here if you'd like a little more exposure.

If you think someone is breaking these rules, send an INBOX message to one of the mods listed at the top of the forum. INCLUDE A LINK TO THE THREAD IN QUESTION AND THE NAME OF THE PERSON CAUSING THE PROBLEM!

*NOTE* Works with NO REPLIES for 1-2 months WILL BE DELETED.
