i know this is an opinion-based question, but what do you think some of the best songs are (with gritty bass lines)?
just looking to expand my experience. :]
Not knowing how to think, i scream aloud, begin to sink
My legs and arms are broken down, with envy for solid ground
Im reaching for the life within me, how can one man stop his ending,
I thought of just your face, relaxed and floated into space
A couple I like.. (some I can play some I haven't tried)
Tommy the cat-Primus
No More Tears- Ozzy Osbourne
War Pigs- Black Sabbath
Fuel- Metallica
Run to the Hills- Iron Maiden (takes a bit of getting used to, but doing a three finger gallop is the best)
Papa Was a Rolling Stone- The Temptations (it's good practice for timing and everything, and there's a lot of room to do little bass riffs between_
Lithium- Nirvana
Lounge Act- Nirvana
Love Buzz- Nirvana
Fall in Love With Me- Iggy Pop
Locomotive- Guns N' Roses
Mr. Brownstone- Guns N' Roses
Come Together- The Beatles (it's the first song I ever learned on bass)
Longview- Green Day (I don't like them, but that song is nice to practice moving your hand along since you dont really change the position of your hand. Second song I ever learned)
That's just a couple.
um, a band that comes to mind with alot of bass would be korn, not the best, but good if youre still learning cuz its easier to hear
"What will become of us if there's no one to watch over us
If we should face the certainty of our destruction
Forfeiting everything, pointless cries, futile dreams
There'll be no laughter, there'll be no tears
When tomorrow never comes."
There has been many good ones listed so far.
Some of the classics or theme songs arent too damn bad either, for instance Sanford and Son,Brick house,Black Magic woman..even Hotel California. Not exactly my style persey, but fun basslines to play, just the same.
Hell, for that matter, take a technique youre working on (triplets, hammers, pull offs or slap)and make up lines encorporating them.Because I will tell you now, looking at some of the music and calibre in above posts? You need to know some of those techniques very well by muscle memory..
Primus is one example.
