I don't think Cocteau Twins are shoegaze, I think they just influenced the genre a lot. A lot of people call Cocteau Twins "dream pop" whatever that is.
And I said that I think Garlands sounds goth-rock. I don't know, what do you think about that album??
Oh, and I guess I forgot to explain how I knoooow Dead Can Dance are not Goth-Rock. Eeeeh, I'm scared of people that are so nitpicky about everything!! T_____T
Just remember that it takes forty-two muscles in your face to smile, but it only takes four to extend your arm and bitchslap that motherfucker upside the head.
i cant believe i missed an argument about Cocteau Twins one of my favorite bands ever. They're certainly not goth, they are dream pop, its not just some madeup genre. they were basically the pioneers in dream pop, they led the first wave. they influenced everyone from the cranberries, to lush, to asobi seksu. they have a few elements of shoegaze, but shoegaze and dream pop are pretty interchangable a lot anyway.
I really dont think I can pick just 2
Male: Robert Smith, Ian (blah blah fight if you want), Peter Murphy (Non goth: David Gahan and my beloved Trent )
Female: Siouxsie, and the ladies from Switchblade Symphony
