eXploitation Mu$ic started in 2008 as a studio project intending to meld together the feel of exploitation horror movies of the 1970′s, the uncontrolled honesty of Lou Reed’s Metal Machine Music & the maverick movie making of Mark Handel. Unfortunately copyright issues & the lack of a decent legal team led to a more traditional musical output that started with 2009′s WEED SPECIES. Met with encouragement, disdain & indifference in equal measures a second album was recorded anyway and released in 2010. SUN HAS LOST ITS HUMAN featured similar lyrical themes to it’s predecessor but also included “Alaska” the bands most downloaded track. Around 30 songs were written and recorded for the third album, 2011′s THE COMFORT OF THE MYTH. 16 tracks made the finished release, lyrically it covered more diverse subjects such as dead girls (“Dead Girl”), the contentment of consumerism (“Content Consumers”), Ted Bundy (“Chi Omega”) & a female acquaintances living arrangements (“She Lives In A Trailer”). It was also musically more adventurous than it’s predecessors. A cover of Lou Reed’s “Video Violence” recorded during the same sessions was also released on youtube & garnered positive response. All three albums are currently being remastered & are set for re-released in 2013 with new artwork. Work on the next eXploitation Mu$ic album continues with release due in the first half of 2013.
