City Club is a very strange animal. It was my very first clubbing experience in the states and is probably the most memorable club I've ever been too (which is going up against some clubs I've been to in Europe so those are some pretty stiff odds). Its not the type of place you want to go to alone, but as it says on the web THIS IS DETROIT. Can't put it any clearer than that. Don't do anything stupid. Don't be too trusting of people. And make sure you know how to take care of yourself before you go. Alot of the people are very open, but alot of them are also very closed. The Detroit crowd is renowned for having an elitist attitude, not to overgeneralize but if you aren't from Detroit they tend to look down on you. But people come to City from all over. You're bound to find people. But just in case, bring a group if you can. Also keep in mind that Strange things are always bound to happen. There will be shady types there, and the place is very dirty. But its an underground club. You can go to Necto and hang out with the Teeny-boppers (which unfortunately due to fundage I've been reduced to) or you can go experience the real deal. Love it or hate it, at least give the place a shot. It has its own charm to it.

Yeah city club is the best on saturdays! I go every saturday night and you can meet a lot of cool people (or me!) there and its good music too not like that bull shit hip hop and rap they play in most clubs. I haven't seen another place like it in Michigan so far.

Mike won't spend a dime on it unless he HAS to. I still say he's a slum lord and until he starts to really care about the place I'll continue to do so. The parts that no one has access too, without public access (that I sneaked into once or twice to look around) are even screwed up almost beyond repair. The fact that it even functions as a building at all let alone one used for the public to stay in is mind boggling. The building should be condemned and I'm guessing that the only money that is put into the place is payoffs to city officials not to do so. It's been moving down hill since well before I started going and the economy went to hell, so lack of funds is no excuse either.
