L'espoir d'août can be defined as a one-man band, or more precisely project. It is the project of Mathieu, a young up and coming musician/composer/producer originally from Montreal, Quebec that relocated to Norway in the summer of 2010. His first instrument was the drums and he took lessons for several years with a blues drummer in the Montreal area. Later on he would start learning music theory and composition to be able to apply for a bachelor's degree in music. Mathieu is currently a student of music technology in Norway which includes production, algorithmic composition, live sound and many other things.
The idea behind L'espour d'août was simply to have a outlet for any type of music ranging from contemporary classical to algorithmic compositions to dark ambient and more texture-based music. Almost nothing is out of bounds. Collaborations are also more than welcomed and desired. Mathieu can also be contacted to mix any other musical projects.
