Hey. My name is Claire (NOTE: I would prefer you call me Claire over eccentricromantigoth, if you're actually reading this, seeing as eccentricromantigoth really is a terrible name, but I'm far too lazy to start over with a new, better username). I've always had trouble making these "about me" things fit my personality, but I'll give it my best shot.
I was born in Naperville, Illinois, but I now live in another small suburb minutes away from Chicago (undeserving of a name). It's a one of those all-white stereotypical suburban towns, and, coming from Vegas, it kind of annoys the hell out of me. I'm sixteen years old. To be honest, life could be a lot worse, and yet I've given the world more than my fair share of angst. I guess I'm just a killjoy; I kill people's joy. You, dear reader, whoever you are, are my equal. You are just as real as me. Your thoughts are just as free and independent as mine. Perhaps one day I can fully realize that and walk in your shoes, and that day will be the day I can finally understand people and help them in any way I can. I already care about others, but I want to be able to truly understand. Understanding is key, I think.

I guess I can say that right now finding myself is first and foremost on my mind. I don't enjoy all that much anymore, but maybe if I could figure out what my passion is, or find someone "genuine" to talk to, things would get better. I know that my own personal meaning of life varies with my perspective regarding that meaning, so I'm trying rather hard not to be such a pessimist. Religion and philosophy have been large influences on my recently. Although I am an atheist (with some agnostic viewpoints), I am by no means anti-theist and I find religion fascinating.

Some time ago, I realized that I'm addicted to the internet and that I've been using it as a means of escapism. Escapism is ruling my life right now; I moved recently and spending endless hours reading, watching Buffy and Charmed, and surfing the web represses my loneliness for a little while. I'm socially awkward/anxious/incompetent, I still have braces, I have yet to date anyone, and I'm obsessed with labels (and many other weird and insignificant things). It's not just that though - the presence of malice and hatred and agony in the world is so overwhelming that sometimes it makes reality a hard concept to grasp. It's so horrific - while I'm enjoying and ice cream cone, someone out there, somewhere, is probably dying a painful death, and countless people just as real as I are hungry or suicidal or confused or in some other kind of pain.

I like just about all varieties of music, but Goth rock, industrial, alternative, and synthpop/electronic occupy the most space on my computer/iPod.

As far as politics go, I am a libertarian who supports welfare/Medicare/social security. I value equal rights for EVERYONE, including people in the LGBT community that want to get married. I think it's a right for them, as well as anyone else. If you would like to know any more about this or anything else, just comment or send me a message or something. Whatever you want. I'm always open to a good conversation.
