Demons Zombie
Zombies are slow and easy to kill, armed at best with a wrench or flashlight. Many can be found in groups of three or more, so the best way of taking them out is to line them up, and give them a head shot with the shotgun, because you will cause 2x the damage to the first, and will cause extra damage to the following.
Z-Sec zombies
Z-Sec guards are not as unrelenting and brutal in their attacks as the commandos, however they can still be dangerous enemys. Armed with either a machinegun, pistol or shotgun, some may have riot shields that make them harder to kill. If you are facing one or two use the shotgun or a rapid fire weapon. If they are attacking in number use the rocket launcher or grenades and finish them off with the shotgun or a rapid fire weapon such as the machinegun / plasma gun.
Imps
As long as you are not surprised by the Imp it is fairly easy to kill and you can easily avoid their fireballs at distance. Fireballs can sometimes be taken out with the shotgun or plasma gun before they hit you. Keep an eye open for them in crevices (ceiling and ground). If you are facing one or two use the shotgun or a rapid fire weapon. If the Imps are attacking in number use the rocket launcher or grenades. Catching their fireballs with the grabber (D3 R.O. E.) and tossing the ball back will kill them instantly. (except on veteran and nightmare difficulties)
Flaming Zombies
Flaming Zombies can be a problem when at close range. However if you keep a reasonable distance and use a combination of the shotgun and rapid fire weapons such as the machine gun, chaingun or plasma gun while circling them they are easily defeated. If you are at close range try to aim for the head as you will cause 2x the damage.
Chainsaw Zombies
Chainsaw Zombies can be a worthy opponent at close range. However if you keep a reasonable distance and use the shotgun or rapid fire weapons such as the machine gun, chaingun or plasma gun to circle them they are easily defeated. If you are at close range try to aim for the head as you will cause 2x the damage.
Commando Zombies
Unrelenting and quite brutal in their attacks, armed with either a chaingun or a tentacle, commandos can be a dangerous enemy. Try to keep a reasonable distance from Commandos with a chaingun, the weapon is not as accurate at longer distances. If you are facing one or two use the shotgun or a rapid fire weapon. If Commandos are attacking in number use the rocket launcher or grenades and finish them off with the shotgun or a rapid fire weapon such as the plasma gun. If you are at close range try to aim for the head as you will cause 2x the damage.
Archviles
The Archvile can be one of the most dangerous enemies in the game. Not only are they powerful and hard to kill, they can also summon other enemies to aid them. Kill them before any other enemies. Try to keep out of their line of sight and at a distance using long range weapons such as the BFG / Rocket Launcher wherever possible. If you are at close range try to aim for the head as you will cause 2x the damage.
Cherub
The Cherub is an airborne demon that is perhaps one of the most annoying enemies in Doom3. Fast with quite high damage from its claws and leap attacks this demon is best attacked with the shotgun at close range or the machinegun, plasmagun or chaingun at longer ranges. If you are at close range try to aim for the head as you will cause 1.25x the damage. Catching them with the grabber and releasing will kill them.
Lost Souls
Lost Souls are airborne demons that travel in packs. Fast but fairly easy to kill with rapid fire weapons such as the chaingun and machinegun. The weapon of choice if Lost Soul numbers are low is the shotgun. Avoid / keep your distance when large packs of Lost Souls are approaching.
Maggots
Maggots, while easy to kill, are very fast and can easily surprise you with their attacks. Weapon of choice is the shotgun, rapid fire weapons such as the chaingun or machinegun are also of use. If you are at close range try to aim for the head as you will cause 1.5x the damage.
Pinky
Pinky Demon, fast and dangerous with the ability to inflict damage by ramming you, using its claws or using its teeth. Try not to get cornered by this demon, keep your distance, keep moving and make best use of the shotgun, chaingun or rocket launcher. At close range the weapon of choice is the shotgun.
Revenant
Revenants are one of the fastest enemies in the game. While they can be killed with a few rockets, do not underestimate the Revenant. Their ability to attack from a long distance using a pair of heat seeking missiles and use their hands in close combat make them quite a formidable opponent. Missiles can sometimes be taken out with the plasma gun before they hit you. To defeat the Revenant keep moving and make best use of the plasma gun, chaingun, shotgun and rocket launcher. If you are at close range try to aim for the head as you will cause 2x the damage. The grabber will catch the rocket, but it just forces it off course. Using it on revenants is advised against, due to the second rocket that usually follows.
HellKnight
Hell Knight, a powerful enemy, can do a lot of damage should the plasma balls hit you or they get close enough to toss you around. Can be slow moving and can take a lot of damage. Keep your distance and use the rocket launcher or BFG. At closer range use the chaingun, shotgun or plasma gun to inflict as much damage as you can. If you are at close range try to aim for the head as you will cause 2x the damage. It takes anywhere from 3-4 returned shots to kill (grabber)
Tick
Do not be fooled by their size or low health. Ticks usually attack in swarms, often surprising their enemy by emerging out of crevices in the ceiling, floor or walls. When in swarms these can easily be killed with rocket launcher or rapid fire weapons such as the machinegun, chaingun and plasma gun. If attacking alone use the shotgun, machinegun, chaingun or plasma gun. They will die from catch and release of the grabber.
Trite
Often confused with the Ticks, these demons also attack in packs. Often surprising their enemy by emerging out of crevices in the ceiling, floor or walls, they can be devastating. When in packs these can be killed with rocket launcher or rapid fire weapons such as the chaingun and plasma gun. If attacking alone use the shotgun, chaingun or plasma gun. These will also die the same way.
Mancubus
Mancubus are incredibly slow but that is balanced with their ability to take a lot of punishment before they are killed. Their rapid firing plasma guns can cause a lot of damage, both direct and splash. However take advantage of their slow speed by taking cover / keeping a reasonable distance, using a mixture of the rocket launcher and rapid fire weapons such as the chaingun or plasma gun and they can be defeated. If you are at close range try to aim for the head as you will cause 1.5x the damage. It takes 4 fireballs to kill the Mancubus.
Cacodemon
An airborne demon that can be hard to kill due to its toughness and its ability to easily dodge your attacks. Rocket launcher shots in particular can easily be dodged by the Cacodemon. Spits out fireballs with splash damage, try to avoid these by staying under the Cacodemon while you use rapid fire weapons that will 'bounce it around' and inflict damage. A Cacodemon's fireballs can sometimes be taken out with the plasma gun before they hit you. One lightning ball normally will kill it except for the hardest 2 difficulties.
Wraith
As long as you are not surprised by the Wraith teleporting to your position it is fairly easy to kill. You will notice a bright orange/yellow glow before they teleport to your location. Use this to help avoid its close combat attacks and it is fairly easy to kill. If you are facing one or two use the shotgun and/or a rapid fire weapon. If the Wraith are attacking in number use the rocket launcher or grenades. If you are at close range try to aim for the head as you will cause 2x the damage.
Bruiser
Significantly faster than almost all demons, more powerful than a mancubus, and with a higher health than a Hell Knight, the Bruiser is one of the most powerful demons you will face in the game. Very unrelenting with their attacks, weather it be smashing you around up close, or blasting you with fireballs from far away. Using the artifact (Soul Stone) against them is a HIGHLY recommended idea, due to the berserk ability. If you don't have a spare charge, use your rocket launcher combined with the chaingun. Use corners to your benifit, since they take up so much room. Don't waste your time using your Grabber, because of how quickly the fireballs fly.
Forgotten
The Forgotten are airborne demons that sometimes travel in packs. They are a little faster than Lostsouls but are easier to kill with the single shotgun or rapid fire weapons such as the machinegun or plasma gun. The weapon of choice if Lost Soul numbers are low and you are at close range is the shotgun. Avoid / keep your distance when large packs are approaching. Catch and release will kill them.
Hazmat
Hazmats, like other Zombies are fairly slow and easy to kill. Once killed they drop a bio suit environmental tank that can be used when you traverse toxic waste. Take advantage of their fairly slow speed by running them round in circles while using weapons such as the plasmagun and shotgun. If they are attacking in groups weaken them with the rocket launcher and finish them off with other weapons. If you are at close range try to aim for the head as you will cause 2x the damage.
Vulgar
One of the more common demons in Resurrection of Evil, the Vulgar is a little more powerful than the Imp. The Vulgar will emit a high pitched sound just before it attacks, use this knowledge to help avoid its melee attacks and fireballs and it is fairly easy to kill. Keep an eye open for them in crevices (ceiling and ground). If you are facing one or two and they are close use the shotgun or a rapid fire weapon. If the Vulgar are attacking in number use the rocket launcher or grenades. One fireball will kill them on all difficulties.
Hunter Helltime
The first hunter, found in Erebus Dig Site, Helltime is one of the easier hunters to kill. Avoid its attacks and use your the grabber to capture and throw its fireballs or the energy bolts from the turrets either side of the portal at it. The energy bolts cause significantly more damage, but you have to dodge constantly, or else you get hit. Its fireballs can cause some damage, both direct and splash, however they can sometimes be taken out with a rapid fire weapon before they hit you. Once killed Helltime will leave you with helltime (the ability to slow down action) for your Artifact.
Hunter Berzerk
The second hunter, found in Erebus Station the Berzerk with its high health and large amount of splash damage from its fireballs makes it a formidable opponent. Use the Artifact to your advantage; wait for the Berzerk to start powering up then use the Artifact and a rapid firing weapon aimed at its heart (chest/stomach area) which should glow an light red/orange colour. Once the Berzerk has taken a lot of damage the powerup cycle will repeat again. Their fireballs can cause a lot of damage, both direct and splash, however fireballs can sometimes be taken out with a rapid firing weapon before they hit you. Once killed the Berzerk will leave you with Berzerker power for your Artifact.
Hunter Invul
The third and final hunter, found in Phobos 2. Invul's high health and wide range of attacks can be devastating. At first it will appear to be invulnerable to your attacks. You must take out each of the four power supply units that it draws energy from. Do NOT waste your ammunition against this hunter, because it takes a very long time (it has over 7000 hit points). Catch his fireballs with the grabber, dodge to the left or right really quickly, and return the fireball. When he moves to the middle of the room, and, use the artifact to slow down time, run up and open the energy conduits, switch to the grabber, and use the Hunter's fireballs to blow up the conduits. There are two lifts either side of the room which enable access to an area with fresh souls and a health recharge unit. Once killed the hunter will leave you with Invul power for your Artifact.
Vagary
One of the four bosses in Doom3. Half human and half spider she can be a formidable opponent at close range and dangerous at a distance. At close range you must avoid her teeth and pinchers, at distance you must avoid the objects she hurls at you using her telekinetic ability. Keep your distance, avoid objects by circling while using grenades and rapid fire weapons such as the plasma gun / chaingun. If you are at close range try to aim for the head as you will cause 2x the damage.
Sabaoth
The third of the four bosses in Doom3. A formidable opponent, armed with both a pincher and BFG, it may push you over the edge / crush you under its tracks if you get too close. One shot from Sabaoth's BFG may kill you so destroy the green BFG shot with the most accurate and powerful weapon you have. If a BFG shot has been fired keep your distance, move out of line of sight / shoot down its BFG shots and take advantage of its slow turning speed in tight corners by circling it while firing high damage weapons at it's torso/head area such as the BFG or soul cube. The best method for taking out Sabaoth is as soon as you enter the room, and the door to him opens, throw the sould cube, switch to the chaingun, back up against the door you just entered from, and start firing. He should die before he fully reaches you. If you are playing the xbox version, and have the auto aim function set, turn it off so you can actually HIT the BFG blast.
Gaurdian
One of the four bosses in Doom3. Being blind the Guardian is quite useless without the 'seekers' it sends out to spot its enemies. Take out each seeker quickly with the shotgun or chaingun, or at least dodge its searchlight. Tough, this demon can take many shots, even from the BFG. Try to focus your shots on the blue/red glow above as it spawns new seekers. The demon is quite slow, so keep your distance, destroy / avoid the seekers and use your most powerful splash damage weapons such as the rocket launcher and the BFG.
CyberDemon
One of the four bosses in Doom3. The almighty CyberDemon, large with a devastating rocket launcher attached to one arm that can crush / kill with one shot. The toughest boss, this demon can take endless shots. The CyberDemon moves quite slowly for its size but can out-walk you, so keep your distance and keep running. The only way to kill the Cyberdemon is to throw the soulcube at him 4 times. Use the rocket launcher to kill the imps and maggots around the room, while the CyberDemon briefly pauses to prepare to fire. Rapid fire weapons such as the chaingun and plasma gun are of little use.
Maledict
Maledict, the final boss in the Resurrection of Evil expansion. Found in Hell the Maledict has a wide range of attacks, from hurling of asteroids to a flamewall. Being an airborne demon makes the Maledict hard to target, it is vital that you make best use of the Artifact and corpses to recharge it. Use the Artifact to slow down time and then fire your best weapon (BFG is ideal) directly at it. The weapons you will need for this boss fight are as follows: Chaingun, Grabber, BFG, and the Artifact, or bloodstone. Use the grabber to take out the forgotten that are spawned in, use your chaingun to wittle down his health, and when he's stationary, use the artifact, then blast the crap out of him with the BFG.
