Before there was time, in a place of darkness, she was created to rule the vast expanse of nothingness in silent solitude, a dark Goddess that thrived in the deep nothing. But she became lonely, her Creator showing no interest in her after giving her life, and the loneliness drove her to create a companion, a mate to fill the empty dark and bring life to the night. He was the Light to her Dark and he brought a balance to her existence, balance to the universe.
Before the clock began Noire and Viran, Mother Dark and Father Light, ruled the expanse of the universe side by side, she bringing about creation and holding the power of what would be and he holding the power to balance it all. Eventually, Noire bore the first of their seven children, four boys, born of the darkness and destined for greatness. Their parents, seeing that the boys had gifts that needed an outlet and were destined for greatness, created Earth, molding it from the debris Noire had created. As the planet took shape, their sons were sent to it’s surface, the first of their race, the Tiste Andii, each a powerful leader and each gifted in their own way. They gave rise to their race, a people pulled from the shadows themselves, children of the darkness that ruled from those shadows with a fierce drive and a steady hand.
The Mother and Father soon had another child, a son that was the embodiment of mischief itself and carried his mother’s penchant for creating chaos, though he gave it his own unique spin. He was sent to Earth as well, the first of his race as his brothers had been, and gave rise to the Jinn, power mages and elementals that take power from the elements around them. Finally, the pair welcomed their last two children, fraternal twins, sent to Earth as the Mother of Vampires and the Father of Lycanthropes in all their forms. The Earth fell into a tense balance, held in place only by Viran’s hand at times but was as the pair had hoped it would be, a place for their children to rule.
However, as time went by, most of their children found themselves on a continent secluded from the rest of the planet, a place they called Hollow and many of their own offspring followed them. Much to Noire’s pleasure and her husbands dismay, wars broke out between their children who each wanted to claim Hollow for their own and rule. Viran does his best to maintain balance, bringing times of peace to the land as the children and their descendants fight among themselves for power. The six kingdoms of Hollow often feel the touch of the Father as he is forced to step in and keep balance, keep his children alive, keep them from destroying one another.
