History Of The Band
- The Sisters Of Mercy were formed by Andrew Eldritch and Gary Marx, in Leeds. The Damage Done is recorded, and the Merciful Release Record Label is formed to release it, limited to 1000 copies.
- The band becomes fully formed - Andrew Eldritch sings, Gary Marx plays guitar, Craig Adams plays bass, and they have Doktor Avalanche to do the drums! Ben Gunn joins as guitarist towards the end of the year.
- They are becoming more and more popular, and Temple Of Love is their last independantly released single. Ben Gunn leaves
- Wayne Hussey joins the band, and their popularity grows, especially in the UK and Germany. There are growning tensions within the band, especially between Gary Marx and Andrew Eldritch. They sign to the WEA record label
- First Last and Always is released, and the Sisters play the Royal Albert Hall
- Wayne Hussey and Craig Adams leave the band (and later form The Mission!)
- The Corrosion is released, and becomes the number one alternative record in America. It is announced that Patricia Morrison has joined the band, and Floodland is released.
- Andreas Bruhn joins the band, playing guitar, and Tony James replaces Patricia Morrison. Guitarist Tim Bricheno also joins. Vision Thing is recorded and released. A European tour ended with 2 nights at Wembley Area.
- Tony James leaves.
- Some Girls Wander By Mistake is released, with the single Temple of Love (1992) becoming their biggest selling release, going to number 3 in the UK charts.
- A Slight Case Of Overbombing is released, and a new guitarist, Adam Pearson joins. They tour with Depeche Mode.
- Due to disagreements with their record label (which is not East West), nothing is recorded at this time, but guitarist Chris Sheehan joins, Ravey Davey becomes Doktor Avalance's Nurse.
- The SSV album is released, which East West buy without hearing, as they want another album so they can end their relationship with Andrew Eldritch and the Sisters. It still hasn't been released!
- Nothing much happens between 1997 and 2005, just a few tours, but in 2005 Chris Sheehan leaves, and Chris Catalyst (also known as Robochrist) joins.
- Adam Pearson leaves, Ben Christo joins, and the Sisters complete a major tour, from Vegas to Rio.
