Description: BANDMEMBERS Liam Howlett - Band Status: Music composer
- From: Peterborough
- Born: August 21st , 1971
Some would say "He IS the Prodigy", but Liam would disagree. Certainly, this guy does write most of the music, and leads the way. But he has stated that the Prodigy would be nothing without the other members. As a child, Liam began listening to ska and 2-Tone music, before getting into the world of hip-hop, during his teenage years. He was so into hip-hop that he managed to join a local band called 'Cut 2 Kill', but got kicked out later on, after a disasterous record deal and friction with the other members. After checking out a rave for the first time, Liam started afresh as a rave DJ at The Barn in Braintree. It was there he met Keith and Leeroy, and the rest is history! Liam used to live in the Essex village of Cressing. Earlier this year, Liam, along with Keith Flint, moved out of their Braintree homes, after being plagued by obsessive fans, into converted £1,000,000 houses, in a rural area just a few miles away from Braintree. Their new homes are to be surrounded by a six-foot high fence. To see Liam live is like seeing God his/herself, but instead of creating miraculous human beings, he creates sounds that flow into your viens, into your blood stream, and into your mind as you think, how in the freaking hell does he do it? I'll tell you how he does it. He's got what many would die to have: a mind that won't stop making great music. > He dislikes it when people call Prodigy a techno band. He's clarified that enough times. As he states, Prodigy is it's own sound, though the music still remains punk/dance music. "I'm fascinated with aggressive music on a street level. We draw from all corners of rock 'n' roll history, hip hop, dance, punk, whatever, and spit it out as the Prodigy sound. The live element allows us to take it one step further, to really connect with the crowd and bring out a darker side to the band. It will always remain important to me to create something raw and unpolished." LIAM

- Band Status: MC
- Born: 1967
Although referred as 'Keeti' by the rest of the band. It is not a good idea to call him by his real name (Keith Palmer), should you ever meet him! The only member of the original line-up to come from a place other than Braintree. He is the MC that revs up the crowd by yelling extremely loud, rude and crude. He shares the act of singing with Keith, as they are the two singers of Prodigy. You'll know it's Maxim if he's wearing a metal glove, a kilt, and blue contacts. He also tends to kick high and hop around in his phase of revving. And he also yells out "Come on!" and "Yeah!" as attention getters, and attention he gets. Maxim was a member of a reggae outfit ("Maxim Reality and Sheik Yan Groove") shortly before he joined The Prodigy, although he had been into numerous scenes in his native town of Peterborough, such as ska/2-Tone and hip-hop/breakdancing. The last person to join the Prodigy for their first ever gig, the idea to have an MC was Liam's, having seen most rave outfits doing the same. Maxim was assigned to The Prodigy by former manager Ziggy. During their first gig, Liam wasn't entirely happy with the way Maxim rapped - sure, they got a rapterous reception (previous acts at the venue had been bottled off), but Liam asked Maxim to tone down the reggae-style he was used to. Maxim's current stage image consists of a pair of 'evil' contact-lenses, a metal armour glove, a dressing gown and even a skirt! "The transformation takes place gradually as I get changed. But it’s totally different personality." MAXIM | Keith Flint - Band Status: Dancer, Vocalist
- Born: March 27th, 1969
Keith Flint is the "psycho somatic" of The Prodigy. He is part of the act that revs up the crowd by his antics on stage, such as whirling his head about in an odd fashion and running into several things, such as Gizz Butt, the speakers, and yes, even the crowd. Keith started becoming a leading role in The Prodigy ever since Firestarter came out in 1996, in which he sang the lyrics. Adolescent Keith didn't know right from wrong back in his days of high school, so he decided to drop out of school. As a result, his parents kicked him out of the house. He then went for a long trip in Africa, and when he came back he knew he had to dance. It seems that Keith was destined to be a manic dancer - after all, during his childhood he used to dance in his mum's kitchen to Led Zeppelin. During a series of dead-end jobs, long-haired 'hippy' Keith was often seen dancing at local raves during the 'M25' era of dance music. After having a good time with Leeroy, at a set played by a DJ by the name of Liam Howlett, he decides to get together with Liam, Leeroy and Sharky to form a band. For the most of his career in the Prodigy, Keith has had long dark hair (up until summer of 1995), although nowadays, he is more famous for his double-mohican hair-style which changes colours almost every week. Before this haircut, though, he did have a phase between the main two (summer - end of 95) where he had a simple short dyed punk haircut. "It's not a character, it's me, driven by adrenalin and the amazing music. I enjoy being able to totally express myself, and the band is a good excuse to do that. It's not so much singing as vocal expression." KEITH Please post this in your profile.
