~RULES~
General cult rules
1. Follow all VF rules!
2. RESPECT ALL STAFF! If they correct something you are doing wrong, do not back talk them! Anything that they are correcting you on is stated clearly in the rules, and if you break said rules, we will assume you didn’t read them. Which means you really shouldn't be in this cult anyway.
3. A link on your profile must be made containing your current stats and level. (When you apply for a leveling up, you must post the link with your application to show that you have updated the page. When you level up, you may choose which abilities you would like to level up. More information is available in the "Leveling Up" thread. Abilities to choose from are available in the "Character and General Abilities List" thread, along with a character list.)
4. We use the three strike system. If we catch you breaking any of VF, or our cult’s rules in or out of character, you will receive a warning. (Don’t worry we’re not strict on grammar, spelling and punctuation out of character.) If the offense is repeated, or you do something else, you will receive another. On the third offense, you will be either banned, demoted, (if you are of ranking in the army, or an adviser to the king’s) or super leveled down, depending on the severity of the offenses committed. Fourth violation you WILL be permanently BANNED if you have not been already - non-negotiable.
Posting Rules
5. DO NOT RP IN ANY THREADS UNTIL YOUR CHARACTER HAS BEEN APPROVED! Then: --1. Post in the "Rules" thread stating you understand the rules. (In the comment that you post stating that you understand the rules, please put a deliberate typo so that we know you have read them. Otherwise you will be asked to read them again.) --2. Post in the "Personal Introduction" thread. --3. Post in the "Level and Combat Systems Explanation" thread. --4. Post in the "Character Bio" (character creation) thread. --5. When your stats have been added to the list in the "Character Stats" thread, you must create a page in your VF profile which contains your character's stats, and post them in the "Character Stats" thread.
6. After your character has been accepted, please introduce yourself to your leader in their Head Quarters thread. (If you have chosen to join your side's army, please post in the MILITARY Head Quarters thread as well (Fort Libertas for Azura, Imperial Legion Command Post for Sheogorath.)
7. You may be in as many threads as you want to at once (unless you are in a battle) but you MUST KEEP YOUR STORYLINE STRAIGHT!
8. Posts must be at LEAST 3 FULL SENTENCES. Members need to be as descriptive as possible to make it easier for the person RPing with them to respond. Everyone must use the appropriate grammar, spelling, and punctuation in their posts. (No run on sentences, no un-capitalized letters, and FOR GOD'S SAKE, NO USING "U" OR "Y" OR SOME SHIT. You have been warned...if we see it, there will be consequences.)
9. You may swear, but not excessively. (Every other word you type shouldn't be a swear.) Also, do not use any sort of derogatory swears, such as "gay", "fag", or anything to do with race, sexuality, or religion. If you use a derogatory swear, whether directed towards someone personally or NOT (and IC or OOC) you will receive the equivalent of TWO warnings, which means if you violate the rules one more time, in any way, you will be BANNED.
10. Killing a character is a no no, unless the RPer wants their character killed. (You can beat them to a pulp, and definitely do damage, but no one can be killed. The amount of damage you can do is determined by the level your character is.)
11. If you are traveling from one city to another, please post in the threads between the cities! No teleporting! You just may run into someone along the way who can provide you with helpful, or harmful, information...
Character Rules
12. You may begin with two characters, three if you are staff, or a puppeteer. (Every 600 posts you may create a new character. Try to be creative; be on both sides if you have two or more characters, although this isn't a requirement, it’s highly suggested.)
13. Your character can be a species/race other than the ones listed in the character list thread. For example: you could be a Wood Elf or Wereoctopus, but please ask either Kerry (AssassinDeDemon), or Jade (SweeT-x-ExilE), before creating your character. We don’t want to dishearten you by denying a character you’ve put a lot of work into.
14. IF YOU'RE THINKING OF CREATING A VAMPIRE OR WERECREATURE, PAY CLOSE ATTENTION!!! If you are a Vampire you are NOT a species! You are bitten and turned by a DISEASE. Same goes for Were-creatures. (Because Vampires are dead they CANNOT reproduce!!!! Were-creatures on the other hand, may reproduce, it is then up to the RPer if the infant inherits the disease. More information available in the character/ability thread.)
15. No God-modding; we understand that actually being able to do damage to other people may lead to some getting carried away, so if you’re unsure of your power ask a member of staff. If we catch you God-modding, you will receive a warning. A continuation of this behavior will result in you being banned.
Army Rules
16. Anyone can join the army on their side at any time, even after character creation. (To do so, post in the "Army Application For Approved Characters" thread. YOU DO NOT NEED TO POST HERE IF YOU ARE JOINING THE ARMY UPON CREATING YOUR CHARACTER.)
17. If you decide to join your side's army, PLEASE BE ACTIVE! You are fighting for a cause. The MAIN purpose of this cult is battle and war, because most active RPers such as myself are, quite frankly tired of simply RPing mundane conversations. So if you decided you would like to join your side's army, fight!
18. If you would like to apply for a high ranking position in your side's army, feel free to do so, You need at least 20 posts, and must have participated in at least one battle. (Rank is something you earn, just like in the real military, in the real world. And if you're accepted, be prepared to take on the responsibilities that come with your position. And be active!) | ~WELCOME
Welcome to the world of Namredew, and to a role playing cult that truly is unlike any other. This cult is designed to provide a story, rather than your role playing simply being mundane conversations in different settings. There is an ongoing war in this cult, and you are urged to join one of the two militia's (though not required). Or, you may choose to simply do what you do in every other cult...mundane conversations. You have a wide selection of characters to choose from ranging from Half-Dragon to Human, or anything else you might think of that is not listed. Please, read on, about the history of this world, what caused the war and the current post apocalyptic state, and the two opposing sides which you may join. One is based on limitless magic, and the other on structure and order. Which will you choose? ***PLEASE BEAR WITH THE LONG HISTORY! A LOT of effort was put into this cult so that you may actually follow a story and be more involved. The history has actually been summarized. If you have any questions, please contact the leader of your city. Either Dylan (SpiketheFraf) or Kerry (AssassinDeDemon) AND WELCOME! ENJOY!*** [DESIGN CREDIT GOES TO: PRINTED EXISTENCE] | City Leaders Felix Aquila Felix was born afflicted with the Lycan disease, his father being a Weretiger, his mother simply being human. Nero Aquila, Felix's father, was a soldier in the Trymerian Army, and died when Felix was 12 years old. His father's death left Felix to take care of his mother, Julia, who was ill with the fever. Having always looked up to his father, Felix wanted nothing more than to be a soldier just like him when he was older. His mother died just a month after his father, leaving Felix alone to fend for himself. When Felix was 13, his uncle, Brutus, took Felix in, and began helping Felix prepare to join the army when he turned 17. For the next 4 years, Felix mastered his skill with a sword and shield, and got himself in the best possible physical condition. He used his ability to turn into a Tiger to his advantage, knowing that it would help him be faster, stealthier, and stronger in battle. At the age of 17, Felix stood 5'11", 200 pounds, all muscle, and a heart full of excitement, respect, duty, and honor. Right before he joined the Trymerian Army, he met a woman named Lilith, who also had an immense love for battle as well. He almost immediately fell in love with her, vowing to always return to her in between his travels and battles with the Army. He joined the Trymerian Army, and spent the next nine years slowly climbing the ranks to become the commander of a platoon of men. Shortly after his final promotion, things in Trymera began to get bad in terms of the citizens and the Navitus Deum crystal. The other countries of the planet Namredew banded together, vowing to take out Trymera and it's citizens before they got too out of control, and destroyed themselves, or even the world. Felix stayed in the Army, though he did not believe in the power of the crystals, or what they were doing to his people. He wanted to protect what remained of his family, Lilith, and the few friends that he had, so he fought against the different miltias which tried to invade his beloved home. Felix fought side by side with a soldier named Therral, with whom he did not agree on much, but somehow they formed a strong bond. Even though he believed in the power of the crystals, and fought to protect them, Therral became Felix's closest friend quickly, and someone he could always rely on. After some time, the King of Trymera ordered his troops to spread throughout the world, wishing to conquer every remaining country. At this point, Felix decided, regretfully, to retire from the Trymerian Army all together, as it was not about protecting his home anymore, it was about controlling the world. Felix said goodbye to Therral, who of course decided to stay, and returned to Trymera with a heavy heart, hoping that he would see his friend again someday, and that the madness the crystals seemed to bring to people would somehow stop. But it did not stop, it only continued to get worse, Felix saw when he returned home to Trymera. Those who had the crystals were consumed with greed, corruption, and violence, turning on their families and closest friends, and Trymera soon had a civil war on it's hands. Felix holed up in his Uncle's home with Lilith and what remained of his family, letting the world slowly destroy itself as those who held the Navitus Deum became too powerful, and further unlocked the powers of the crystals, creating weapons of mass destruction. Finally, the planet of Namredew was left in a post apocalyptic state, and nearly every living being in the world was dead. The Navitus Deum seemed to vanish along with those who held them, which Felix thought was only the best thing for what remained of the ruined civilization. Most of those who survived resorted to cannibalism and looting, as the food supply of the world had been nearly completely wiped out. A short time after the downfall of the world, Felix and Therral crossed paths again, and Felix was over-joyed to find his friend alive. The two decided that they just might have a shot at fixing the mess that had been created, and collaborated over the next few weeks, making plans on how to bring the civilization back from the ruins. But a couple of weeks after making the final decisions on how to begin fixing it all, Therral revealed to Felix that he had found a small supply of crystals. He said that it would be the perfect way to fix everything quickly. They could grow crops, supply people with houses, and so on. Felix thought that the intentions were good, but so were those of the King when he had found the crystal, and he could see the same thing happening again. The two argued and argued, finally deciding to go seperate ways. Therral would form his own city, and use the crystals to help himself, and anyone who joined, supplying everyone with vast amounts of materialistic wealth. Felix would form his own city, too, but from the ground up, using what materials were left in the world, and creating a proper and fair government. But Felix is determined to destroy the remaining crystals, and so a war between the two post apocalyptic cities ensued. Felix is now the leader of his city Azura, and his small, but growing, army, with Lilith at his side as his second command in both, helping and advising him along the way.
Therral Therral was born unto a human mother and a draconic father in the form of a humanoid. He was raised near the ocean in a village on the side of a cliff far from any town considered large. He would spend his days exploring the many caverns in the cliffs and competing in the village tournaments. His best talent was discovered to be swordplay, though he never took great interest in it. As he grew older he used his half draconic strength to help the others in the village with their common day chores, such as repairing structures, fishing [jumping in the ocean and catching large sea creatures with his claws and dagger teeth], and flying letters from villager to villager. When he grew of age he also grew tired of the same old routine, boring, danger-free life. So when the Kingdom's military recruiter came to the small village announcing that the Kingdom was in a time of war, it was no surprise to Therral when he found himself on a horse bound for the Kingdom's capital, and also the hub of the military.
Therral went through extensive training in the capital, all the while he toned his talent for the sword and shield to an expert level. After little time at all Therral moved up in rank in his nations military due to the talent he showed on the battlefield. He also took note on that of which his commanders used to win the battle in a quick manner. The Crystals. The thought of owning one of those crystals filled his head, think of what good he could use them for! But as Therrals last battle came, his commander fell in front of him. Dropping the sacred crystal before Therrals feet. Therral quickly snatched the gem from the dirt, making sure no one noticed in the heat of the blood and gore.
After that, Therral would have dreams of it. Dreams of taking the crystal home and using it to build houses and beautiful structures for his friends and family... Many years later the war came to pass. The world that was once known was gone. Destroyed by the very same thing that now ate away at Therrals heart. An unknown, vast amount of power. His dreams turned away from his small village and morphed into nightmares. Images of death, wealth and greed now filled his subconscious. He was heading in a direction that he didn't even see.
One day, after wandering back to that of which he once knew to be a major town, Therral ran into an old war mate, Felix, of whom he spent countless battles fighting next to. After a while, Felix and Therral came up with a plan. A plan to reunite the remnants of the old magical civilization. Therral came upon Felix, stating that he had found the perfect solution for their situation. Therral then presented to Felix a small bundle of cloth. Felix found that under the cloth was the most amazing colored gem he had ever saw. Felix then fluidly rewrapped the cloth over the gem and shoved it back to Therral, telling him that the crystals were the reason for the destruction in the first place. But Therral wouldn't listen, he had his mind, heart and best intentions on using the crystals for good. Even if Felix didn't want anything to do with the gem. So Therral left, and traveled west, to a deserted town that once had been populated.
With nowhere to go, and nothing to do, Therral began tinkering with the stone. Building large structures lined with gems and gold. As Therral used the stone more and more, he became addicted to its power. So much so that he couldn't part with the gem for a second. After he was done remodeling the city [he preferred a blacker stone, Obsidian], he became aware that he was reliant on the crystals power just to survive from day to day. So Therral came up with a cleaver idea. He raised a giant tower from the center of the city and placed the crystal on the top. The tower was designed to magnify the crystals energy to reach all across the lands, it also made it so Therral could feel the crystals energy like a warmth. Therral then sealed off the tower from the ground and the sky, so that no one would take his crystal and use it against him. The energy released from the tower brought lightning clouds and rain over the city, as if it were to be forever punished in sorrow and dread for the way the crystal's power was abused. Therral sat in his self-made throne, watching as people started entering his city in hopes of finding food, shelter, and perhaps.. power. | ~HISTORY~
Not so long ago, the planet of Namredew was a peaceful, thriving planet, home to a wide range of creatures, from magical to simple humans. Every sentient being lived in harmony in Namredew, and the world could be deemed as nearly perfect. Different civilizations thrived throughout the world, one of them being a country called Trymera. One day, a group of miners were excavating a cave, and discovered a thousand beautiful, white crystals encrusted in the walls. No one had ever seen anything like these crystals before, and so a curious miner chipped one from the wall, dropping the crystal the moment his hand touched it.
When it came into contact with his skin, the crystal glowed bright white, and a surge of what can only be described as sheer energy pulsed through his body. Realizing simply by touching the crystal that it was not simply a crystal, he grew wild with excitement, picking it up with one hand and grabbing a rock from the cave floor with the other. Closing his eyes, he thought of a small figurine, one which resembled his daughter, and when he opened his eyes, a stone figurine replaced the stone he had been holding. All of the miners grew ecstatic, and harvested many of the crystals, bringing them back with them and presenting them to the King of Trymera.
The King was ecstatic, and discovered that the crystal had infinite purposes, calling it "Navitus Deum" or "God's Energy. He decided that it could be used to better their society, and so the crystals remained within the Council of the King, staying within government control. Originally they were used for such things as accelerated growth of farmlands, healing the wounded and diseased, and creating structures such as buildings and houses out of fine gems and stones. Trymera was now beautiful and thriving, and the society seemed nearly perfect. But like all good things, the mortal mind is easily corrupted by power.
Citizens began to desire their own individual crystals, wishing to improve their personal homes, and lives. At first the King declined, but after sometime, he decided that allowing citizens to purchase the crystals at a high price could be beneficial. Since there were a limited amount, not everyone had one. But those who did quickly got carried away, and the power of the crystals were almost instantly addicting. People would nearly murder others just to get their hands on a crystal, consumed by power and greed. Other civilizations around the world were concerned and angry, banding together, eager to stomp out Trymera, and it's citizens, before it became out of control.
The King, who was also corrupted by the power as well, gathered his militia, forcing his best soldiers to defend the failing society. Two soldiers, Felix and Therral, were in the militia for different reasons, but formed a strong bond. Felix, a Weretiger, simply wished to protect his loved ones from the forces that were coming to wipe out Trymera. He personally despised the crystals, and what they had done to his beloved homeland. Therral , a Half-Dragon, wished to protect the crystals, for he believed in the power they held, and the prosperity they had brought his home. As enemy forces spread through their land, they were swiftly defeated by the Trymerian Army. Excited at the success, the King ordered his militia to spread across the world, desiring to conquer and control each land, one by one. When this happened, Felix refused, resigning from his position in the militia, and returning home to Trymera. Therral, on the other hand, wished him the best of luck, but continued to fight for Trymera, and the crystals.
As the Army spread throughout the land, and did indeed take control of every other civilization, the corruption of Trymera only became worse. Those who held the Navitus Deum became violent, turning on their closest friends and family, until Trymera had a civil war on it's hands. The citizens became too powerful, learning how to create deadly weapons of mass destruction, and essentially level plains of the Earth. Little by little, Trymera destroyed itself, leaving no one in charge, and causing absolute chaos. This formed a chain reaction around the world, until finally, the planet of Namredew was left in a post apocalyptic state. Most were dead, and the crystals were somehow gone with them. The few that survived now looted and even resorted to cannibalism in order to stay alive.
Felix and Therral survived the mess, and one day ended up running into each other. After a few drinks, they decided that they just might be the ones to re-organize what was left of the civilization, and pull it from the wreckage of almost complete destruction. The two talked all night, and for the next few weeks, collaborating and creating what seemed to be a fool proof plan to re-establish order in Trymera, and the rest of the world. A week after the two had come to a close on their plans, Therral came to Felix excitedly, pulling him somewhere private to talk. He revealed that he had found a small amount of crystals, and told Felix that it was the perfect solution. They could use the crystals to renew the farmlands, and re-create homes for people, and the world could be returned to it's original state again, only better. But Felix disagreed, stating that the whole reason that the world was now in a post apocalyptic state was because the Navitus Deum had been used in the first place.
Therral tried to convince Felix that this time it would be different, but he would not budge. Limitless power was bound to corrupt someone, and even one person corrupted in their society was bad enough. The two continued to argue, finally deciding to go their separate ways, dividing their followers, and Trymera in half. Now you must choose which side you will join. Will it be Felix, in his city of Azura? Who intends to establish a government that was as organized and free as the original government of the world of Namredew, before the crystals interfered? Or will it be Therral in Sheogorath? Who intends to use the crystals to provide the things that a civilization would need the easy way, and has already been driven to a power hungry state? Will you join the army of the side you choose and fight for it, either for the crystals, or for the elimination of them? Can you resist limitless powers? Or will you bask greedily in them as the others did? |
