Cult_Of_DimebagDescription: Welcome all! This cult is dedicated to Darrell Lance Abbott...lovingly known by all of his fans as Dimebag Darrell.
Dimebag Born on August 20th 1966 in Dallas Texas, Dimebag grew up around music and eventually learnt how to play the guitar...exceptionally well. By the age of 16, he decided to form his first band with his brother, Vinnie Paul, and together with Terry Glaze (later known as Terrance Lee) and Rex Brown. Orinally named Pantego (after a town just outside of Texas), they later changed the band name to Pantera, meaning "Panther" in Spanish.
First Pantera Lineup They released 3 independent albums (1983-Metal Magic, 1984-Projects in the Jungle, and 1985-I am the Night) with Terry Glaze on vocals before recruiting a new frontman, Phil Anselmo. They made another independent album (Power Metal) before they signed with East West/ Atlantic records and refined their sound and made a completely different style to any other band in their time...a trademark "Power Groove".
Early Pantera Their new style payed off with the breakthrough album, Cowboys From Hell, and things picked up from there for Pantera. Release of their next album, entitled "Vulgar Display of Power", and with it the song 'Mouth Of War', which was the first EVER metal single to debut at #1, beating Metallica's 'Enter Sandman'.
Monsters of Rock, Moscow, 1992. Their 7th album, "Far Beyond Driven", made waves in the music industry, debutting at #1 on Australian and U.S charts simultaneously. The Great Southern Trendkill is released in 1996, shwoing Pantera as a band working more tighly together than ever before, and becoming one with their music. After a show on the 13th July 1996, Phil overdosed on Heroin, and died for 4 or 5 minutes. He was revived and taken to hospital (thankfully), and recovered (obviously).
!!!!DIMEBAG!!!! In 2000, their 10th album, "Reinventing the Steel", was released, and sold 161000 copies within the first week of sales in U.S alone. This is their final album release before they finally (and sadly) split up, and although there is much speculation as to the cause, its not fully known the true reasons why.
Damageplan Dimebag, together with his brother, formed another band with Pat Lachman and Bob Zilla called Damageplan. They produced an album "New Found Power", and had nearly completed a second album, when at a gig in Columbus Ohio on 8th December 2004 (24 years to the day after John Lennons death), Nathan Gale (a Pantera fan) jumped onstage and shot Dimebag, as well as many others. Dimebag died at the scene, and to this day, fans around the world mourne his passing, yet keep his spirit alive by showing their dedication and love towards Dimebag and the music he created.
