Hair Tips and Links

Tips
*Don't brush or comb your hair before shampooing. Plan to get all the tangles out after you've conditioned your hair.
*Brush the scalp with a bristle brush to exfoliate the scalp and to aid circulation.
*For medium to fine hair use a fine-toothed comb.
*For medium to fine straight hair use a metal brush to blow dry, because the bristles will get hot and curl the hair.
*For short hair use a brush with plastic tips on the bristles for blow drying, as it grabs the hair and gives you more control as you style.
*Fine hair will flatten if conditioned every day.
*You need your split ends cut but for a quick fix pull a smoothing serum through the ends of your hair, blow them on a cool setting on your blowdryer to seal them.
*Too many products can lead to dull-looking hair, use a clarifying shampoo once a week.
*To get rid of gross smells[i.e stinky food, cigarette smoke] and reduce static in your hair wipe a fabric softener sheet like Bounce through your hair.
*Don't shampoo the day following the application of colour. Let the colour set for a day.
*For a looser curl, start from the ends and curl up. Vice versa for tighter curls.
*Silver curling irons offer less heat then gold curling irons which stay heated longer and faster.
*The larger the barrel of the curling iron, the softer the curl will be.
*If your hair is overly fine be careful when teasing. Make sure the hair is well conditioned.
*Rub add-in or finishing hair products on both hands, it distributes more through out the hair.
*Apply product starting from the middle or the inside or your hair then go underneath. The product will then support the mass of your hair.
*The five top solutions to hair loss are:
1. Supplements
2. Beta Carotene
3. B12, B6, B complex [Vitamins]
4. Zinc
5. Scalp massage
-Make sure you're not using products that clog follicles.

Makeup Tips and Links

Tips
*Apply a creamy lip balm before bed it will add softness you loose during the day
*To smooth chapped lips rub on lip balm before you hop in the shower immediately after, gently buff lips with a pinch of sugar and a wet terry washcloth.
*Avoid tweezing above the brow, it can ruin it's natural shape over time.
Shaping a perfect brow: Use a lip or brow pencil to outline the shape you want, following the natural growth as much as possible. Take time to make sure you get exactly what you want. Tweeze hairs that fall outside of your outline and trim any hairs that are too long.
*Don't forget to gently wash your brushes at the least, every month. If you are using them on a variety of people wash and/or disinfect them daily.
*The most expensive part of any fragrance is the bottle.[about 40% of the cost] Then comes the advertising [roughly another 30% of the cost] then the celebrity endorsement or designer insignial.[another 10% to 15% of the cost] Leaving about 15% to 20% on the actual fragrance cost!
*Speed Dry: Dip your wet nails in a bowl of ice water [including ice cubes] and keep them there for roughly 1 minute. Using this technique will help you in the long run, blowdrying and nail dryers can actually damage both your nails and nailpolish.
*Try adding a shimmery eye shadow in the same shade as your brows. The subtle gleam will make your eyes sparkle.
*The drugstore brand Wet'N Wild lip pencil #666 is a favorite of top makeup artists and it only costs 99 cents!
*For light lashes line them with brown pencil and stroke brow mascara on your lashes. If your brows are really light, black mascara can look to harsh.
*If your nails are stained mix 2 tablespoons of lemon juice in a cup of warm water. Soak nails for five minutes [minimum] , wipe vigorously with a soft cloth.
*If you love your lipstick, but the colour looks flat and matte and not festive enough, dab a spot of shimmer eye shadow in the middle of the lower lip.
*Sand coloured eye shadow is a neutral shade that makes your eyes look less red. Yellow eye shadow can make the whites of the eyes look whiter. For blue eyes try pale, lemonly tones, if your eyes are dark, try yolky, custardy tones.
*Overused razor blades can become a breeding ground for bacteria. Make sure you rinse your blade after every use and don't stretch the use of your blades for any longer than a couple of shaves.
*Look for foundations with sunscreen in them. Sunscreen is the most important thing to keep your skin healthy and looking its very best.
*Tinted brow groomer will fill in minor bald spots.
*Mineral powder foundation is best for sensitive skin but can make dry skin look a bit chalky.
*If your hiding acne choose a concealer with pimple fighting, salicylic acid.
*Tired? Look it? Mix a little liquid shimmer into a few drops of foundation for a fresh glow.
*If your bothered by dark circles wear bright gloss to draw attention from your eyes.
*Never share eyeliners, mascara or lip products. Ever heard of pink eye or cold sores? These are highly contagious and are often transferred by sharing makeup.
*Applied to much blush? If you're dealing with a cream blush take a makeup sponge place a drop of foundation on it and with tiny upward strokes buff over your blush to soften the colour. If you used powder blush do the same with a dry makeup sponge.
*Cover your lips in colour then run your pinky over them to help push moisture and colour into your lips.
*If your going to try a coloured mascara choose shades that match your eyes to really show them off.
*Only apply mascara to your top lashes. The bottoms are where smudges happen most and keeping them bare will save you potential clean up time.
*Mascara Application: Tilt your head back slightly and look down to expose your lash roots. Target the root as the first place the brush hits,[it will deposit the most colour there which is where you want it] then glide the brush through to the tips.
*Foundation Application: Expect to you about a nickel size amount for the entire face.
*Eyeliner Application: Wiggle the pencil using little back and forth motions to really work in the colour to the roots, then smudge with a Q-tip to soften the line. You can use whatever liner is left on the Q-tip to slightly smudge your lower lash line for just a hint of colour.

*Tip From:

For lipstick that sticks.
1)Put some Chapstick on right when you get out of the shower.Let it soak in for 5 or ten minutes. Chapstick will "set" your base.
2)Tissue off the excess Chapstick after you've let it soak.
3)[Why the Chapstick so important]Take some pressed powder and gently dab some on your lips, careful not to over apply the powder. If you didnt use Chapstick, the powder would dry out your lips.Powder is even more important than Chapstick, the powder will give the lip stick something to hold on to.
4) Take the hand opposite your writing hand, and put your thumb on one side of your lower lip, and your pointer finger on the other side and stretch it out so its more like a line, it'll be easier to trace. Then take your matching lip liner and trace along the edges of your lips on the inside. The best thing to do now, is to color in your lips lightly with the lip liner.
5)Now, you take the lip stick and put it on. Using a lip brush gives you more control.
