Phill – I would like to ask you your influence for the album Maldire, what was it and why did you choose it?
VAC – My Influence was old wumpscut, like embryo dead era. That and the Pink Dots and Kaspel musix stuff. Lyrics inspired by my christian thrashing I had my whole childhood and learning later that I am a Pagan Ghoul.
Phill – You have a phobia regarding large crowd, how do you prepare and eventually overcome this phobia when you play live?
VAC – DRUGS. LOTS and LOTS OF DRUGS.
Phill – Is there anything you have done over the years that if you could go back and change it you would?
VAC – If I could unlearn the tour bus shit. I wish I could go back and tour for every lp we made. I regret not playing live all these years.
Phill – What was the reason for you going completely vegan and how do you maintain a balanced diet?
VAC – Vegan? Yeah that was easy, the animals talk to me, and I can not eat things that talk to me. The pagan in me over rides my thirst for blood, brains and maggots. It is so easy to be a vegan now, why not. More than that, I do not wish to destroy the world. Meat eating is really fucking up the world we live in. People starve because we eat meat. Go Read the China Study.
Phill – Over the years you have had a couple of different alias’s, why have you chosen to change you alias and are they any way connected to the music you are creating at the time as well as being to do with something personal?
VAC – Disease Factory was my self destructive front man EGO. Hexfix93 is my producer name, It is my self saving ego. The two battle a lot. The new name is a spell as well. To ward off curses.
Phill – In the past drugs were a stimuli to help you create music, as you have grown drugs have become a lesser part of your life. So what stimuli do you use to help provoke your creativity these days?
VAC – I learned that certain foods are like drugs. Like when you eat a 100% raw uncooked diet, then eat super foods, like raw cacao, gogi berries, mangostein, acai, and lots of big dark green salads, raw garlic, ginger, jalapeños. Raw Mustard greens. Juice kale, carrots and celery. Do this for a few months, and you will see it is the ultimate high. It can suck when you detox at first tho, but after the detox it is amazing.
Phill – Is there a difference between Bryan the music creator and Bryan the writer? You review albums and interview bands so do you have a certain frame of mind for each?
VAC – Well, it is always me. But yeah when I make music my mind goes into another dimension. That is not the case when I am doing my blogging. I am not a real magazine or anything, and I only talk about the things I like usually, not into the whole negative vibe thing and shitting all over everyone else's parade. I am a troll, but I repress that aspect of my personality.
Phill – Would you consider yourself a logical or an emotional person and what makes you that sort of person?
VAC – I am both. Unfortunately I can never choose when one or the other takes over. The music makes me emotive. But I have to organize so much data and information to do everything else.
Phill – Star Wars or Star Trek and what is your favourite film from either sci-fi franchise?
VAC – BOTH. Empire Strikes Back, the darkest of them all. I also love The Wrath of Khan, they killed my son. LOL
Phill – What was your favourite toy as a child?
VAC – My atari 2600 ov course. Esp raiders of the lost ark game.
Phill – What are your views on religion and it’s role in the modern day world?
VAC – All religion is a behaviour modification tool to keep people on the party line, or to passify them. Most people who say they are religious are not at all, they just want eternal life and not to go to hell. None of them seem to follow the rules.
Phill – What would you consider your strengths and weaknesses are as a person?
VAC – I do not give this information to the public, I do not wish to be manipulated in a scheme to do awful things.
Phill – What is it that you ultimately want to achieve with your music?
VAC – The goal? No goal. I make music because I love music. It really is that simple. Its why I have 14 VAC LPS, and 17 toxic coma LPs. I make music because its my soul, my blood, my mind. No choice in the matter.
Phill – Are you a tea or coffee man?
VAC – Tea. I love posh tea's from Teavana. I even have a cast iron tea pot now. I love green and white tea the most, and all the strange blends I can get there.
Phill – Thank you so much for giving Vampire Freaks this interview, is there anything you would like to add?
VAC – Yes, Check out some new bands I like, The Twilight Garden, Chrysalide , FOE, Com Truise, Psykkle, Darker Days Tomorrow. Also Velvet Acid Christ Is going to be touring the west coast this winter, and the east coast in fall 2013, Europe will be in the spring.
Velvet Acid Christ Will be on tour with The Twilight Garden, and Toxic Coma in feb 2013. Will be in europe in MAY for WTG, and be back in the states for east coast tour!
Velvet Acid Christ is my biggest influence in my music and the interview was very well done. I am also all about Tea, herbs, and healthy eating. I am very curious about the Pagan Ghoul thing as well?
I hope I don't forget about the east coast tour in the fall, sometimes I forget these things happen, and then I get upset when I miss them. I mean, fall 2013 is really far away in my mind.
