Diatomaceous earth is not good for people though, but it works great on ants. You really try to kill large spiders?? They are great in the garden, eat all kinds of insects. Our stores actually sell ladybug spores, and of course praying mantises are protected by law. Chewing tobacco also works VERY well against insects as a repellant. Companion planting of things like marigolds to repel harmful soil nematodes and plants with tiny blooms to attract parasitic wasps that kill soft-bodied insects that eat crops.
There's gotta be places where you can get magnesium into the soil where you don't have to buy something to put it in there. I wouldn't buy anything without being able to read the label, I am licensed to apply pesticides in my state, and it was like 6 questions on the exam - read the label, lol.
Oh, I forget people call some caterpillars worms, lol. There are some caterpillars that eat plants but do the plants good, because they stimulate their growth or are their pollinators. Like Monarch Butterfly caterpillars eat fennel down but the butterfly is an important pollinator, including for the fennel.
