Vessels Of Wrath

Another era has dawned, and with it, the Vessels of Wrath begin a vigorous new assault on the ears, eyes, and minds of all debauched ladies and rakish gentlemen across the land.? 2007 saw the release of V.O.W.'s debut album, "'Tis Now Struck Twelve: The Shape of Goth to Come", a 60 minute fall from grace symbolized in the form of their trademark operatic goth metal sound. With it came a hurried maelstrom of theatrical performances that would cement the vaudevillian style and comedic sensibility that would become not merely a hallmark, but a veritable brand in the face of rock n' roll.
In 2010 came V.O.W.'s latest offering, the EP "And We Shall Take Up Serpents", a dense and creepy seven track narrative filled with words of anathemaic desire and iconoclastic outrage bound with abrasive tone, ambient interlude, and raucous percussion. Awash with a mood of end times brimstone that unsettles and inspires, “Serpents” all the while maintains the cynicism, violence, and pompous circumstance that are not only the cornerstones of rock music, but the very foundations on which this great country was built.
The dirty suits and road-weary hirsuteness of V.O.W. are no mere accident or lazy affect; no, this is a reminder of what we were of olde. If one's past lives can recall the traveling minstrels and troubadours of the middle ages or the snake-oil salesmen and sideshows of the dustbowl. If you reminiscence, per chance, of the finely accoutremented whores and strippers of the burlesque age, or the road camps and hand-painted adverts stating simply, "THE GREATEST SHOW YOU'VE EVER SEEN: THIS WAY", then you belong here. This is where V.O.W. has resurrected the art of performance under the guise of dramatic rock and roll. This is where so many of them left off, a century or more ago, as the shillings and bits dried up, and the note died to make way for the Union bill. ?V.O.W. is the culmination of a culture, and we have come to remind you of your ghosts. Be wary, however... once entered you may never want to leave this house. To take up serpents is to commit your faith. Join, or die.
