The group that is known to be Turbo Street Funk today came from a very humble beginning. It started out in 2011 when our leader, Daniel, gave some of his friends a call to come downtown to busk for an evening. Among those that he called were sax player, Juan, tuba player, Trix, and guitarist, Casey.
At first no one took the idea to be anything more than a way to have some fun on a Friday night. However, after a couple nights the members realized that if they pushed themselves enough it could be profitable enough to make a modest living.
The ramifications of that hit everyone at the same time, and when it did; full-time jobs were quit, and tuning slides were greased up. Turbo Street Funk stopped being a silly idea and started to become a way of life.
Camilo was quickly recruited to play the drums, and happens to be able to fix absolutely any mechanical difficulties that the band has. A few weeks later french horn player Eric was picked up to round out the sound of the band; and round out the sound it did.
Now days Turbo Street Funk can be seen playing their hearts out downtown 5 days a week. What started out as a rag-tag group of friends has turned into a cohesive unit that has quickly learned to play anything; and to play it anywhere
