Seeking Solace

Profile: Seeking Solace was founded by its two original members Stuart Walters (drums) and Jullian Greenman (guitars) under the name of "Stullian" in the small Canadian town of Lillooet in British Columbia. The two friends met when they were very young. The two spent most of their youth playing video games, "Shiza Booting" and recording comedic routines on tape. They did these things for many years until one day (for reasons long and forgotten) Stuart and Jullian no longer spoke for a year. In this time, Jullian had taken up the guitar, and Stuart had taken up the drums. Jullian having been playing guitar for a year, and wishing to play with others, learned that Stuart had started drumming, and asked him to jam. Thus, Stullian was born. They got their first show after about a month or so of playing together. They played several others as a duo. They both felt that their music needed more, and were unable to provide the sound they craved as a duo. This is where (ex?) guitarist AJ Hopkins came in. He was Stuarts cousin, and Jullian and him had met through future ex-bass player Allan MacDonald. AJ asked them if he could join at a New Years party, and the duo quickly agreed. Now this is where the bands music started to take off. Distancing themselves very far from their prior "Nirvana" sounding music, they took on a more heavy, dark route. The trio played together for a full year and played several shows together in the small town of Lillooet. After that year, the trio craved for more color and sound in their music. This is wear ex-bass player Allan MacDonald appears. He was friends with Stuart and AJ, and him and Jullian were both aspiring artists, sharing an art class at school. This is where Jullian asked Allan to learn the bass and play for him in his unnamed band. Allan accepted and played with them for a few months, playing a couple shows with them. Then Allan for his own reasons (unknown to other band members) stopped coming to band practice and pursued his interest in Art. The band practiced a while as a trio again, lusting for the full sound of the bass that they once had. This is where current and permanent bass player Cory Layton joined the band. He was good friends with Jullian since elementary school and played hockey with Stuart on the local hockey team. Jullian knew that Cory played guitar and asked him to join the band to play bass. Cory was reluctant at first, wanting to play guitar more than bass, but accepted. Cory brought back the full sound that left the band a while before. The now 4 piece band played locally at a few shows, but then tragedy struck. Guitarist AJ Hopkins stopped comming to practice. He stopped calling, and seemed to be unreachable by phone. It seemed that he had unnofficially quit the band. Jullian saw him a while later (whilst being drunk and high) and started talking with AJ. It seemed to Jullian's un-sober ears and mind, that AJ wanted to pursue a different direction with his music and had "Broken Up" with Jullian. It is still unkown whether or not AJ is still unninterested in the band, but he remains welcome to come back if he is committed. Please keep in mind when listening to these songs that this is Seeking Solaces first ever recording attempt. The songs you will hear will not be final recordings for some time. They will be updated quite constantly in the comming weeks and months as they are re-mixed and vocals and other musical bits are added and removed. You will be notified when they are updated.
