While I don't personally give a flying fuck how other people act or dress, I have noticed that most of the "kids" on this site who describe themselves as "Goth" don't even know who the fuck Peter Murphy is!! Nor do they know who Bauhaus is, or who the Sisters of Mercy are, or who Rozz Williams or Diamanda Galas are. Listen kids, if you're going to describe yourself as "Goth / Gawth / or whatever the fuck lame way you want to spell it", at least have the goddamn decency to learn the roots of the subculture. I don't claim to be, act, or even dress "Goth". I never have and probably never will. I'm more of a Metalhead than anything else and I have always been, but I like a LOT of older Goth music and ways of thinking. Just remember, "Goth" is NOT just a clothing style - it's a way of thinking. Unlike most of you, I don't need Hot Topic to make myself look good. I'm ugly enough without their help, thank you very much. But, unlike MOST of you, I was there when Goth FIRST started out. I saw Bauhaus play LIVE. I also saw the Sisters of Mercy, Christian Death, Diamanda Galas, Siouxsie and the Banshees, The Cure, Joy Division, Clan of Xymox and a few others who most of you have probably never heard of play live as well. You kids missed some great bands/shows...
