Hey there, My name is Christiaan(aka Sketch Roh'kan'or), and I live in the Netherlands. I am 32 years old and I'm an artist.
Art
Im active in different fields, mostly painting and photography. I also work with image- and video editing, and every now and then I work on 3-dimentional projects, such as claying and sculptures. Furthermore I make collages every once in a while.
I like to use a different process to keep a clear sight and use different points of view every single time to avoid the obvious and find what else is possible with a certain subject.
Still, photography, painting and illustration are my main focus and I regularly combine these disciplines. An example of this are the illustrations I draw by hand and edit in Adobe Photoshop. This is only one possibility, and there are still lots of things Id like to try.
My artwork shows the thin borderline between the normal everyday life and madness. Furthermore do I portray an interaction between fantasy and reality. The subjects I usually work with are drawn from society or from my own imagination. The times I wanted to create a complete fantasy world belong to the past, since I prefer nowadays to see the interaction between fantasy and reality in my creations. This interaction is what Im aiming for in both fantasy work (which I still make every once in a while) and the work merely based on reality.
One way to achieve this interaction is by removing the context of a subject and placing it in another one. This subject is most of the time something that caught my interest in some way, and this may be either a positive or negative part of society. This process is of great help when something doesnt work out the way it should.
I usually find the basic images I need after a little research, with sources like newspapers, magazines, Internet and so on, but sometimes I make them myself. An interesting event or situation might provide the right images, as well.
As a matter of fact, it not always a case of a long and tiring search, since our society shows a lot of inspiring images in the general media. The most fascinating subject is, in my opinion, the oddness and sickness of this world. Our society is so diverse, and not every side of it is that pretty.
What do I do in art
Now and again I do artwork for bands. An Exemple is Nordlander. Nordlander is a Paganmetal band from Alabama, US. I did do the Artwork, logo design and design of their first CD (to the Battle Field!). I did also the logo design for Abitrary, and did some T-shirt designs aswell.
Me personal
Besides that I love to read, listen to music, watch movies, cooking, sex and go to concerts once in a while and go 2 gothic party's.
I am living together with my sweet love Annelies in the town where they make cheese and glass.
That's Leerdam!
My life is pretty much about Art, Annelies, Fantasy, Spiritual freedom, and Gothic.
