Profile:
Well, hello there. Ica's the name. I'm something of a reckless, moody, opinionated scoundrel.I scribble poetry and make vague attempts to draw and paint, I'm also a voracious but slow and thorough reader, and drink copious amounts of black tea. I was born in the month o' December , in a port-city by the name of Vladivostok , in Russia. I've lived in Australia for the past 8 years. I like military history and Romantic poetry. I'm not famed for being very likeable - and this is probably with good reason.
sunset light in dusty warehouses, my hand-me-down cat Grey, invading abandoned factories, drawing, listening, watching, trench warfare, anything to do with Erwin Rommel, fire, old Wespes, dating men of questionable sanity, singing badly at the top of my lungs, heights, asking questions, the black plague, peculiar senses of humour, rifles, WWI, parsnips, bunkers, the beauty found in minute detail, lavender blossoms ,watching cars rush by below an overpass, walking down the middle of two way roads, wandering without a particular purpose, the Pre-Raphaelites, anything to do with the Afrika Corps, WWII history in general, Russian history, Aztec and Slav mythology(actually, mythology in general), antagonists, mind games, the German approach to handling the longsword (much preferred to the Anglo-Celtic school), arguing, poetry, Goethe, scribbling on walls, the German language, languages in general, Baudelaire, chess, journals and journaling, rings from coffee cups on pages, dancing, bonfires, lipstick stains on coffee cup edges, graphology, P.B. Shelley, music, moths ,daddy longlegs, the smell of old books, Solomon Asch, travelling by train, railroads, art galleries, decent coffee, the good old SA, Shakespeare, palmistry, sleeping(when able to), mind games, scapegoats, my dislikes list, my time alone, sincere laughter, my habits, rain at night, actually, the rain full stop, abstract thinking....
Dislikes:
self-imposed ignorance, holding faith to any local political party, needy stalkers, swollen egos, bands that pride themselves on being lame, the kind of psychology student (well, actually, any student) that just parrots off whatever they're told, disregards contradictions and questions nothing, petty scum, people who can't argue their opinion, Basquait, television , individuals whose social lives consume their mind, Himmler, Goering, lazy muses, fashionable mental disorders, my frequent bouts of nostalgia, blackmail, that band kriegsberichter, people who pose for photographs with fake guns... fake guns, fake flowers, fake hair, people who collect shit wobbly swords and decorative weapons made from pressed tin, the term "to date", wanton animal cruelty(maim fellow men but leave the animals alone)...(i do, however reserve my right to eat and wear all the fuzzy cute fuckers i bloody well want),Siegfried Kracauer and other wanky , inept social critics from the 30's, most modern art, money lovin' skum, cultural relativists, trendy post-modernists, sophistos of any sort, most monotheists and the fundamental ideals of the major "religions of the book", the fact that I'm useless at maths, being approached by members of the Socialist Alliance (and similar groups) who automatically assume I will support their cause as I'm slightly odd-looking and an immigrant, Epistemophobes, Eleutherophobes, the fact that being artistically inclined seems to mean you must be intensely left-wing in a vague and fashionable manner, people on the feminist bandwagon, feminist readings of texts, most feminists, whiny pseudo-intellectual pseudo-rightists and pseudo-leftists, people who call me a nazi for the WRONG reasons, people who write my autobiography for me, "artistes", art snobs, art patrons, most of the local "art scene", Susan Sontag, men named David, the current state of affairs...the list could go on....
Favorite Music:
Rammstein, Leonard Cohen, Kimmo Pohjonen, The Bolshoi, Wumpscut, The Crooked Fiddle Band, Delerium, Machina Vremeni,Philip Glass, Mumiy Troll, DDT, Nautilus Pompillius, the sound of the rain, wind in dry grass, the rattle of trains, creaking old buildings, Suicide Commando, Dead Can Dance, Little Birdie, Melnitsa and Illet(Russian neo-folk bands),Dolls Head, Smashing Pumpkins , Falkenbach, Sigur Rois, W. A. Mozart(Dies Irae is love) , Rachmaninov, Big Electric Cat,familiar human voices, Kraftwerk, Uriah Heep, Assemblage 23, Sisters of Mercy, Bjork, Wolfsheim (selectively), Front 242, The last unicorn soundtrack(shut up and don't laugh, or i'll have your tongue),Agatsuma ,Black Tape for a Blue Girl, Joe Henry, SA marches, Kobalt, The Cure(on occasion), Restrukture, Butterfly Temple, Lacrimosa, Goethes Erbens, Autumn Rain Melancholy, Feindflug, Cherry Poppin' Daddies....i'm sure thre's plenty i've failed to mention, but this should be enough to give you a general impression of my tastes.

Hahaha oh that's his explanation then? It's a good thing I didn't bother reading his links. What a waste of time.

No, he's a pseudo-intellectual. He's sent me links that apparently show how evolution and gravity aren't proven, but I refuse to read that junk. For all the big words he uses, he doesn't have a very good grasp on logic.

Hey Ica!

How've you been? It's been a while! I'm doing well - pretty busy with concerts all over the Midwest (gah! so much travel!), and I joined a country band as a fiddler, too. What've you been up to these days? Still busking? Write anything you like lately? I hope you're doing well!

i've read the Bible cover to cover (the only one in my religious education class at a catholic school to do so) - and a god that advocates genocide, forgives rape, tries to kill his own representative (moses) but is stopped by a foreskin being thrown in his face, thinks rabbits chew the cud while supposedly being omniscient, and is generally capricious and cruel is not my cup of tea.

- Wow that's a whole lot of misunderstanding there. amputees and skeptics annotated?

The jewish nationalist with nothing against slavery that was jesus Christ is not really someone i'd like to worship.

- Wow. You got the breakdown of Galilee right but missed slavery. You do realize the command was to treat slaves and believers? Right?

Not to mention the wars that have raged under the great banners of various strains of Christianity - Pope Innocent the thirds massacre of the Cathars in the name of consolidating power for the Catholic church, made famous by the words "kill them all, god shall know his own", Cromwell leading his troops against the Irish, having said that they are warriors of God,

- Ever hear of sin? People are with that.

and they come against the Caanites to wipe them out (please see exodus, joshua and judges),

- Do you know what the people were like that lived in that land? This is the one legitimate claim you have to disliking YHVH but even this is sorely misunderstood.

the witch hunts , the Crusades ,the death of Hypatia of Alexandria (first notable woman in mathematics, and renowned philosopher)on orders from Bishop Cyril, who had her dragged naked through the streets, flayed and set ablaze before the church, the destruction of all record of many cultures conquered by christian peoples and the forced conversion of natives.

- Sin. People have that.

Or did all the perpetrators of these horrors simply "not understand" the Bible

- I'm sure you don't understand the Bible. Those people were actually a lot like you "doing what seems right in their own minds."

, which has over time been re-interpreted in so many ways it means virtually nothing?

- By re-interpreted do you mean translated? We actually have great early texts. The tectual criticism part is very good for the Bible. You can't really question its accuracy but I understand you would question its content.

Not to mention the whole idea of "one true god" breeds intolerance.

- Actually your being intolerant. One God simply means (Biblically) not everyone will be with Him. That's not intolerant if it's true, it's just fact.

So yes, having explained a little of my feelings about the sacred text and the history of Christianity, I would liek you to remove me from your list.

- I'll remove you but you didn't explain to me the history of Christianity of the texts just a bunch of good you amassed in your brain so you don't have to believe.

in the menu to the left of your screen, there is an "edit lists" option. I think you'll be able to find your way from there.
Thankyou kindly.

- Your welcome.

Regards,
Beau

P.s. You would be benefited if you went to my blog and watched the video that says "this is what a christian is" you will be very suprised.

I looked at it but that doesn't mean we can't be friends. Perhaps it's what you don't understand that has made it this way? Perhaps it's what I don't understand that has made it that way for you?

People grow and learn based on interaction with one another. If you still feel that way just respond back with a please remove me. Also, could you please explain to me how I remove people? I'm not really sure.

Regards,
Beau
