Society is a riot of color, in the dark all is gray. Only in the dark do we see and feel what we are. Only in the dark do we breed our desires with out fear. Only in the dark do the edges mater. Society attempts to force conformity with light and noise. Here in the dark there is freedom from pain and for pain.
Only in the dark are ideas freely expressed. Only in the dark is food, life and love.
Ideas and experience provide the basis for all interaction. Without freedom to experience, learn, grow and love we are straitjacketed
Above all Honesty is important to me. I have been married these past 27 years. I am not looking to leave that marriage or experiment outside of it. If that bothers you Move On. I am here looking for people with different life experience to share conversation and friendship.
I live and work very closely with nature. As such I watch the struggle that goes on for life both during the light (day) and the dark (night) a cycle. Most people work and live within communities that isolate them from these realities. We conquer night with light(electricity), we conquer distance with vehicles, we create drugs that prolong life, we conquer death by, cooking, filtering our water, and processing our waste so that disease does not spread. In doing so society to some extent ignores the consequences of what we do. We educate based on what we have done, not how, what we do, interacts with the world at large(cycles and systems). Please do not get me wrong, I am not an environmentalist, nor a primitivist, as I would have died at 30 had not society as it is now existed. So for me finding people that look at life from the perspective of systems and our effect on those systems is my way. The meat of my profile is to try and get people to think outside of what they experience, to try to challenge people to experience what is not with in their experience. Example, I meet a person online late in the 20th century, she came out to visit my wife and myself. She was from the metro Miami area. By the end of her time with us she had compounded a list of 19 ways to die within the environment that we lived in, things that M and I deal with on a daily basis but are so foreign to her experience that she was able to draw a different outlook from it. She took that back and became more aware of her surroundings with in the community in which she lived.
For me there is always something new to learn always something new to experience. For me to stop learning to stop growing is to begin to die. The world I see is ever changing, not even the seasons, though they change with some cycle from year to year, are never quite the same. As children we learn with constants, this is, that is, (the grass is green)( The moon goes around the earth). As adults we learn of the uncertainty of life. Looking for systems (cycles) and how we can intact with them gives some guidance to who we are at any given moment in the stream of experiences we call life. The viewpoint from within a system and the viewpoint from without gives more clarity in an ever changing world.
Spirituality for me is a very private thing. So I will leave it to say that I see things within the life I live that give me hope that there is something more than what we are. What it is I do not know
My current group of authors is Laurell K Hamilton, Kim Harrison, Kelley Armstrong, Karen Chance, Charlaine Harris, Carrie Vaughn, MaryJanice Davidson,Sherrilyn Kenyon and Michele Bardsley. They tend to write Dark mystery, romance. LKH is the most .. detailed .. of the lot. LKH is also the most dark of the group. Most of the darkness come from with in the soul of the characters. In this case I would say that vampires have souls. All seem to have very strong female lead characters the lightest of the bunch is MaryJanice Davidson. I have laughed for hours at Betsy Taylor Queen of the Undead. I enjoy these authors points of view on many issues. Several of these authors actually use there work as Social Commentary. Much like the older authors of first, the Science Fiction genre.. Later, the fantasy genre. Marion Zimmer Bradley, Mercedes Lackley, Anne McAffery. One of more interesting new authors is Gregory Maguire. He retells the old Grimms type tales with quite twist. Read Wicked or Mirror Mirror if you get a chance.
