Hello. My name is Mike. I'm really just your average sort of person. It's possible that you now think I have some sort of "attitude" thing going on, due to the message to beauty cults, but I don't. I grew out of that a long while ago, and even when I did think I had "attitude" I never really was that big on it.

First off, I'm not a Punk (...kinda). I'm a Goth. I really have tried explaining Goth to people before, but the only ones who should care tell me I'm flat out, completely wrong (fucking morons), and the ones who actually get it really don't care, so, I'll give a quick run-down and move the fuck on.

Goth isn't whiny, Goth has nothing to do with Metal, Goth is not about how you feel, Goth is not Hot Topic. Every stereotype I have come across doesn't even come close to giving anything close to any hint of truth that's even close to anything that Goth is, so you might as well just get those out of your head right now. Simply put, Goth is three cultures that are way too similar to be separate (especially since one of them came out of another). The first "Goth" is a type of Punk, really. It's just a culture for Punks who aren't aggressive and rather mellow that appreciate dark stuff. The second is Goth that's not Punk. This is just a culture for people who like the Goth stuff, but not really its Punk elements (This one came second).

The third culture is more attached to Goth than an actual part of it. That culture is Deathrock (not Death Metal). The reason I say that is because it didn't start as a part of Goth. As Goth was developing in the UK, Deathrock was developing in the US. What ties them together is that their music is pretty similar. What makes them different is that Goth was very much a Glam Rock (think "David Bowie," if you don't know what I mean) thing just as much as it was a Punk thing. Due to this, it is a very feminized culture. Deathrock, however, was just Punk that happened to be using the same instrument effects, drumming styles, and heavy bass presence that Goth was. It was also Glam inspired, but nowhere near to the degree that Goth was. So while Deathrock still had a feminine edge, it was still, very much so, a Punk thing.

So that's the music I like. But what about me as a person? Simply put, the two words that describe me best is "mellow" and "blunt." You see, even though I enjoy the world and have a lot of compassion toward people, I choose what is important to me (we all do, really). Due to this, most of the world doesn't even phase me. Also I tell you what I think about you and/or what you are doing without beating around the bush trying to find a way not to "hurt your feelings" I'll still try and do it in the nicest way possible (unless I'm tired or pissed, which I try not to be), but if it hurts, get the fuck over it, because that's life. Sometimes it sucks. (But if you think like me, when it sucks, you get over it because the rest of life still rocks.)

Also, believe it or not, I am a very compassionate person. I care for every human being on this planet, even if they are a total piece of shit. That doesn't mean I'm going to do all I can to make everyone's life oh so cheery and bright all the time because that'd shelter people and leave them defenseless against the world (hence why I'm blunt). However, if someone needs help, I'll help them. Sometimes it may also seem like I'm not helping, but that's only in situations where my "helping" would interfere with them learning something important.
