When a guy stares at you, he wishes you would care about him and wonders if you do

Hello. My name is Mike. I'm a Dark Romantic. Basically, I have a passion for darkly beautiful, artistic, poetic, [etc.] things. I'm also a laid back, simple guy, that life likes to run against the grain. I also like dark sounding music that is not harsh, but is either calming, or energetic [or both]. Due to that, I fit mainly into two cultures: Goth and Shadow Punk. Now, before you go thinking you know about Goth and therefore know about me, know that you are most likely wrong. If you think we're whiny, Emo's in black, you're quite wrong. If you think we're abrasive Metalheads, you're damn near Antarctic-winter-plus-wind-chill cold. Goth also has nothing to due with personality. Though it is true that many Goths have similar personalities, that is due to an interesting bit of psychology. People usually like music that reflects how they feel, and what they like. Goth sounds calming, and darkly atmospheric. Due to that, people who have calm personalities that like dark stuff tend to like Goth. So now that you know what Goth is not, I'll go ahead and explain what Goth is. Goth is it's own subculture based on it's own music genre, which came out of the Post-Punk scene in the UK, and then merged with the Deathrock scene, which came out of Horror Punk, in the USA. Basically, it's a music genre with distant sounding guitars, and a drumming style which uses the snare to keep the beat, that is similar to Punk Rock, except it uses melodic lines instead of thick chord progression. I have a playlist down there if you would like to check out what this would sound like. Now, I'm almost certain that you have never heard of Shadow Punk. That is mainly because Shadow Punk is a very small culture that's practically just a backyard club at the moment. It exists in a small town called Thornton in Colorado, USA. Shadow Punk is a genre of Post-Punk with a louder, faster, distant sounding bass, and a few other things thrown in here and there. A few bands are being set up that play this new (sub-)genre, including my own. We're actually the first. If you would like to check out our one song [that we half-assedly created with GarageBand to sound similar to us], you can go onto our myspace (myspace.com/whispersoftheshadowsmusic) or our website (freewebs.com/whispersoftheshadows). Do note, though, that our drums are more than the simple beat provided, and we play much faster. The song on there was just a song to give a general idea of our sound. If you'd like to know more about me, simply message me. |

How most people don't have the "chiller" font on their computer so the writing at the top of the profile just comes out big and red. |

Gothic Rock, Gothic Post-Punk, Deathrock, Darkwave, Some EBM, older Industrial, Orchestra/Classical, Punk, Hardcore Punk, some Alternative Rock, some Speedmetal (I'm actually looking for Gothic Speedmetal (which isn't a type of Goth)), some Metal, and anything else which I am in the right mood for. I really fucking like Bauhaus, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Actified, Adam and the Ants, Naughty Zombies, The Horrors, Bella Morte, The Imaginary Stigma, The Cruxshadows, Die Krupps, KMFDM, Epica, and a lot of other bands I can't remember off of the top of my head right now. I also love orchestra. Beethoven and Bach, especially; followed by Ralph Del Borgo (a current composer) followed by Mozart and then whatever else I hear that I like. I now have two playlists. One for Goth and another for other stuff. And just because I like this video and song, here's the Greensward Grey video.
