ROBERT MORRIS is an image maker. He has a bachelor's degree in fine art from the Savannah College of Art and Design. Since 1998, he's made New York City his home. He has built a reputation of creating stunning imagery through a variety of media including ink, scratchboard, airbrush, photography, music, web sites, print design, motion graphics, video, and digital compositing. His work generally has a darker edge to it, and pushes the limits of what is possible within any given medium. Since working as a full-time freelance compositor, his work has been publicly praised in publications such as Fangoria, Digit, Cthulhu Sex, The Reel, and Creativity Magazine. Robert has had the pleasure of working with talent such as Android Lust, The Birthday Massacre, Kittie, and Dan Ouellette.
Most of what influences Robert, though, is the life that surrounds him. Robert has a passion for subway decay, the smell of burning electricity, fall evenings in the city, good white wine, soft black puppies, medical illustrations, slow foreign films, natural history museums, and certainly not least, working in his Brooklyn, NY studio.

This is only a small sampling of Robert's work. To view the full portfolio, please visit www.MechanicalWhispers.com. | | | | | There are many creative figures who have been influential to the work of Robert Morris. Fellow artistic influences include M.C. Escher, Gustav Dore, Andreas Vesalius, Albrecht Durer, Zladislaw Beksinski, H.R. Giger, Dan Ouellette, Joel-Peter Witkin, Tim Bradstreet, Edward Gorey, Chris Cunningham, and Matthew Barney.
In addition to art and music, Robert is also inspired by certain films and books. Directors such as David Lynch, Stanley Kubrick, Andrei Tarkovsky, Brother's Quay, Jan Svankmajer, Guillermo del Toro, Peter Jackson, and Mamoru Oshii serve as continual inspiration. Writers that stimulate him include Clive Barker, H.P. Lovecraft, Edgar Allen Poe, G.I. Gurdjieff, J.R.R. Tolkien, and Anton LaVey. Most of what influences Robert, though, is the life that surrounds him.
| Musical influences range from Nine Inch Nails and Bauhaus to Peter Gabriel, Pink Floyd, David Bowie, The Cure, Prick, and C-TEC. But when Robert works, the range of music found playing in his studio can be quite surprising (and sometimes embarrassing). Music is the perfect way to create an ambient mood for any ritual chamber. And the detailed work of Robert's is nothing less than a tedious ritual.
