| Goth is not metal.Goth evolved from a latter 80s British post-punk music genre known as Deathrock and the swiss dadaist movement and the Batcave club scene of the 80s.Goth does not by any means pertain to MM or Lip-snot(slipknot)or any form of shock rock,nü-metal or death/black metal.Similar cultures are that of the rivets and industrial music due to a strong relation in how Throbbing Gristle(founded industrial records and coined the phrase"industrial music for industrial people")played their first few gigs at the Batcave club in Britain.Industrial and goth have many aesthetic relations also. I cannot assert anymore than this.Goth is deathrock/Batcave and Horror-punk not metal.Listen goth is not some egalitarian bull-shit like mall-core culture.Goth is more ecclesiastical and pure than that.Goth is not some corporate fashion statement, goth takes heart and soul(metaphorically speaking).Goth is not some puerile knave who thinks that if they dawn the newest mall-core bands t-shirt and baggiest pants they are gothier than thou.Goth is an expression against modern western society's blatant post-modernistic attitude and a hope to expand the infinite halls of awareness and knowledge, in a hopelessly nihilistic world of debauchery and creature comforts.Unlike punk and mall-core though it is not an excuse for catharsis of ones own problems.It is to mourn for those of the people within modern society whom have fallen under the hands of creature comforts and neo-Victorianism. It is a way to express that hopeless romanticism within the form of eccentric near melancholic punk.I am merely stating the truth here. |

| Goth metal(my definition):it is for Dip-shits goth metal is an excuse by older mallcore hescher pot smoking adolescent or young adults to keep rebelling from there fundamentally evangelical Christian parents.Real goth does not pertain to metal it pertains to death-rock,goth rock,post-punk,new/dark-wave and rockabilly goth has never pertained to metal atall and never shall.Goth is not some corporate bull-shit thought up by 2 faced bigots to sell shit to minors whom look for the new in thing goth ultimately came from punk and punk is the ultimate form of skepticism it takes heart and soul(metaphorically speaking)to be goth not some bull-shit want to fit in to the next fad |

I'm glad to see that you know what the fuck you're talking about here about goth, and i completely agree with you..I may not be as active in the goth subculture anymore.. but I suppose there's always a part of that left in me, back when i heard the cure and christian death and bauhaus, years ago, and felt at home.. back when everyone called me a satan worshipper, because I expressed myself through art and wore black clothes?
