Hello there. My name's Marie. That is the only name I will respond to you by, so please, no nicknames. I was born in Seoul, South Korea on February 27, 1989, which makes me twenty-three years of age and a Pisces. Despite being born in a foreign country, I am a U.S. citizen. This is so, because I was born on a U.S. military base. I am half Korean and half Irish, but I take more pride in my Korean heritage than I do my Irish side. I'm pretty blunt. I will be upfront with you. I will tell you if I like something or not (or whether I like you). If you ask for it, I will give you my honest opinion. Et cetera. I can be a VERY stubborn person and I have a terrible temper, which I really do try to keep under control. If you don't like me, I really don't care. Save your breath and don't waste my time. But overall, I'm very friendly, so don't be afraid to talk to me.
I'll admit when I was a younger teen, I used to smoke cigarettes, do drugs and drink alcohol. I no longer do any of that, except occasionally have a drink. I've decided that I don't need to destroy myself in any physical way. I had also cut myself, but it was not because I starved for attention. I really felt that it was my only way to relieve any pain that I had held inside. I have been diagnosed with severe depression, but as of the past two years, I can honestly tell you that it's not as severe anymore. I've become quite happy. I was raised Southern Baptist but felt that I was Atheist. I have recently found faith again; I am a Christian. I don't mind having religious discussions but I do not tolerate others pressing their beliefs on me. I've been labeled as a goth many times, I personally don't like giving myself that particular label only because I don't see that people can be "goths," 'cause I see it more as a lifestyle. I don't mean mall goths dressing in all black with chains and wearing the white powder and being a "bad ass," but as in actually finding beauty in darkness.
I am an army brat and have lived in the following places:
Seoul, South Korea [three months after my birth]
East Hampton, New Jersey, USA [four years]
Zama, Japan [two years]
Odenton, Maryland, USA [two years]

Yes, I have traveled a lot in my short life, and as interesting as it can be, I'm rather sick of it. Do not think that I don't appreciate the experiences that I've gotten that most people twice my age haven't nor will ever get to see, because I do appreciate the opportunity. Understand that I've traveled to many different places every year of my life, whether it just be for vacation or moving, and having to pack, catch flights, staying in hotels for several months, searching for a new house, new school and so on and so forth does get QUITE tiring.
Besides English, I seldomly know a few other languages. Kudos for you if can understand: Nae, nanun hanguko yeokganeul malhanda. Si, hablo un poco espaol. Hai, watashiwa skoshi nihongo hanashimasu.
I do play instruments: I've played the piano for sixteen years and I have to thank my mother, despite all those years as a younger child complaining that I didn't want to play, for having me continue to learn and play. I've had vocal training for six years. I've played the guitar (acoustic and electric) for six years.
I love to write, and I am a published author. I have thirty poems published by Lulu.com and a poem published by the SUN (a DoDDS-Pacific/DDESS Guam magazine). I am currently working on a novel, but any information about it will not be shared with anyone.
On June 8, 2007, I graduated from Kadena High School in Okinawa, Japan. I'm currently attending Eastern Washington University in Cheney, working on my bachelor's degree for my major in English with a Creative Writing option and a minor in Music.
One of my hobbies (other than writing and music) is photography. Sometimes I find it to be a great creative outlet when I have writer's block. I have a husband, Robert. It's quite a long story how we came to be, but I've honestly never been this happy being with someone. I love the time we spend together. He's been wonderful to me. =] [02.21.08] Jamie is my cosmic twin. We met in Daegu in the fourth grade and we've been great friends since. Heath's my favorite Asian. We plan to take over the world one day, and it'll be great.

//RATiNGS// I don't care too much for ratings, but if you're going to rate me lower than a ten, then give me a reasonable explanation. I have premium. As for giving ratings, I either rate you a ten or I don't rate you at all. Simple as that.

Well, let's see... I like to practice my HTML/CSS skills when I have the chance. Another thing that I like to do in my spare time [if I can find the time] is read, and the book that I'm currently reading is The Fountainhead by Ayn Rand; I haven't gotten very far, unfortunately. I love to listen to music, sing, play the piano/guitar, and write poetry [sometimes stories]. I love to take photos of myself; I'm a camera whore. I also love being in S. Korea, because I consider the country to be my home. But something that someone will always find me doing is being on the computer.

I do not like the United States, and I really don't care if you have a problem with that. Hate me for it, it's not like you'll change my views on the U.S.
I do not like grammatical errors; if you want to message me, then do not use internet chat, because it'll irritate the hell out of me.
I do not like a majority of rap songs that I've heard, for the reason that the lyrics SUCK, and it is the lyrics as well as musicality that determine whether the song is good or not, not the just rhythmic beat.
I do not like when people try to be "bad," because it just shows a lot of immaturity and "being bad" gets you nowhere; been there, done that. I also do not like it when people tend to be very close-minded about subjects.
I also do not like the obsessive Asian-wannabes. I'm sure you know someone like that: reads tons of manga/watches tons of anime, likes Pocky and rice (and not really trying the Asian cuisine), always wants to talk about Asian things, has a dream moving to Asia (without necessarily realizing it takes a lot of money to move there and remain living there), and wish they were Asian. I'm sorry for bursting your bubble - You're not and never going to be Asian (love who you are and not what you want to be). You probably will never be able to visit Asia (or live there for that matter). The only reason you probably want to go there is because of your anime/manga obsession (Realize that in Asia, anime/manga is made for children (ages 8 and under) and it is heavily looked down upon in Asian society for being obsessed with something like that. If you'd actually make it there, you'd look like an idiot for saying you adore anime/manga that much. Realize, that by the time Asian children start school, it's all about education, not cartoons.). It's also quite annoying for Asian-wannabes to only want to talk to you and want to be your friend soley for the fact that you're Asian. Asian-wannabes: Get a life.

May I have your screen name so I may see you on cam? No. The only ones I let see me on cam are close friends and family.
May I have your telephone number? No.
Are you Chinese/Japanese? No, I am Korean, half that is.
You live overseas, why is it that you know English so well? I'm a U.S. citizen. I was raised in an American environment. I went to a U.S. DoDDs school. My dad's American.
Isn't it hard moving all the time? Yes, it is. I hate having to move to different areas, move into different houses or apartments, having to adjust to a new school, having to make new friends, etc. It's difficult.
How is it living overseas, on a military base? It's like a little bubble of the U.S. There's really not much I do, to tell you the truth. There's really no where interesting to go, there's not a lot of places to go shopping for the things that you really need [because everything that you really need, you only can find in the states], et cetera. Also, being on a military base, you do have to put up with a lot of the drills that the active duty has to do around here, like PT [physical training], for example. But...there's nothing really interesting about a military base.
Do you go to a military school? No, I go to a DoDDs school. DoDD schools are the largest school system worldwide, that is funded by the U.S. Department of Defense [DoD]. DoDDs system is pretty much structured the same way as most schools in the U.S. are structured, although, the environment is very different. I've grown up in a DoDD school all my life, but for my freshman year of high school, I moved to Virginia Beach and had to attend a public high school. Let me tell you, DoDD schools are not public schools, they're considered to be private schools. I've had a difficult time trying to adjust from a DoDD school to a public school. My parents had decided to bring me back overseas, back into DoDDs, since they saw that I wasn't doing very well with adjusting in being in a different school [system] nor was I doing well trying to adjust with living in the U.S.
Are you seeing anyone? Yes. I have a wonderful boyfriend.
Are you bisexual [or a lesbian]? No. I'm straight.
Could you please downrate this person? [I've gotten a couple comments asking me this.] No, because I have no reason to downrate that person, because they have not done anything to me. Plus, downrating is childish.
Could we meet? [For those that live in my area.] Most likely, no. But if I get to know you well enough, then there is a possibility.
Oh my god, you're asian! I love asians! May we be pen-pals? No. We may not be "pen-pals", because I don't do very well in keeping up with the whole pen-pal thing. Let me warn you: If you're among those who do nothing but talk about asian topics [whether it be asian languages, asian history, et cetera], you will quickly lose my interest. I have better things to talk about rather than filling your fantasy of a place that you'd most likely never make it to.
What's kimchi? noun Korean. A spicy pickled or fermented mixture containing cabbage, onions, and sometimes fish, variously seasoned, as with garlic, horseradish, red peppers, and ginger.
Why do you even have FAQ? It's pointless. Obviously, you didn't bother to think that these are FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS. I obviously don't want to keep repeating myself, therefore, I post the questions and answer them here. Convenient? I think so.
