"If The Cult, The Cure & The Sisters of Mercy had one bastard child, it would definitely be Dominion"... - Gerard Bumanglag , MyGothicheart.com "DOMINION are undoubtedly the founders of gothic rock-hard and pure in the Asian continent" - Erba della Strega Magazine (Italy) 2009 Dominion is a Rock Band originally from Manila, The Philippines which began in the tail end of 1994 , Considered by fans and the media as an influential force in the development of a unique Filipino Rock sound sometimes dubbed "Pinoy Goth Rock" or " Pinoy Goth " .this said style combines western type "goth" rock music and some form, elements or themes of Philippine ancient symbols,sounds, topics or language. Although an Independent rock band, Dominion swiftly caught the attention of mainstream media for their uncommon look and sound of that time , one of the more notable TV appearances they made was an invitation from Asia's then biggest music channel: Channel V a former subsidiary of MTV, which did a full feature on the band and saw the band broadcasted in the whole of Asia. Staying true to their DIY roots and principles the band refused to sign to any Major Label offers of that time due to the fact that they wanted to release records on their own and not compromise their musical identity . After being convnced once to do so, the band agreed to release a single track to a Major label compilation which only resulted in rushed sessions,frustration and a terrible misrepresentation of the band's sound and track. this unpleasant experience haunted Dominion's future record releases , having adopted a "quality over quantity" attitude when releasing music, Dominion records are considered very rare and very few to come by. Due to constant gigging and live shows , Dominion cemented a loyal following and achieved corporate sponsorship by the likes of Axe cologne, Jack Daniels , Colt 45, and Philippine Airlines to name a few through their shows and National tours , most of this done in the pre-internet era and mostly without Major Label support, something not easily attained by average bands of that era. Heavily influenced by bands such as The Cure, The Sisters of Mercy , The Cult , Fields of the Nephilim , Bauhaus and many other Eighties legends, Dominion has always aspired to create and combine sounds, heavily mixing in their Goth Rock influences with their progressive glam rock and metal tendencies, the band Jokingly calls this "Gloom rock" or "Progressive Gloom Rock". Currently calling the San Francisco Bay Area their new home the band eagerly prepares for a new chapter in their existence as they have begun weaving their new album " Mandirigma" , meaning " Warrior" in their native tongue , something reflective of this band's over a decade long legacy.
