Rob and Matt met at St Patricks High School. In year 9 they were in a few classes together such as French and History from then onwards they became good friends often talking about their favorite rappers, Rob was a big fan of DMX, Will Smith and Snoop Dogg, Matt was a big fan of Eminem, 2pac and Wu Tang. 2pac became one of the main topics of conversation; decyphering his lyrics, discussing if he's... dead or alive and researching his career and life. Rob gained his confidence for rap performance when he waled out a DMX song on the quiet yard at school (ha it wasn't so quiet then) and from then on he would perform the raps he'd written himself. Matt was also wanting to write and perform raps but started out beatboxing after hearing Justin Timberlake do it on the song "Rock Your Body". By year 10 of high school they both rapping; both solo Rob under the name Widz and Matt under the name Fin and also as the duo Night Crawlers. There was mixed responses from fellow high school students some were supportive about it and some just didn't apreciate it. During year 10 they did 2 performances the first one was at an assembly, Matt designed flyers for this that many of their fellow students signed to show appreciation and support. The first performance went well but the second one which was in the drama hall to gain money for charity went down like a lead balloon and turned into a food fight, Matt even stormed out but his cousin Jamie convinced him to go back and carry on. Still despite a bad reception they proceeded to write raps and carry on with the small crowd quiet yard freestyle performances. After high school the friendship began taking a few hits and blunders and the 2 stopped speaking for over a year. When they look back at the riffts now they know it was all bullshit! They reunited at Matts 21st birthday party and it was like abracadabra best friends again! Not long after they began talking about regrouping as a duo and wrote their first song Stand Up and from then on it was official Widzdom and Intoxikie are DEVIOUS MINDS.
