Hi, Music in the post 1980 era is no longer as much in peoples lives as it used to be before 1980. Why ? Because the Compact Disc CD format was badly launched. The records industry charged $ 15 USD a unit for something that should have only cost $ 1.50 USD per a unit. In other words the record companies were charging ten times too much. The public were no longer able to continue buying music like they used to. Many stopped buying music all together. EMI went bankrupt. Only three major label remain. Sony, Warner, Universal. Every other label went into the red and sold out to the remaining three major label. However, this gave rise to the new trend. The Independent Artist. This new independence led to some considerable amount of rubbish being in circulation, but on the whole was a delight to the ears. Now things have reached the point that there are no longer any record stores in the local high street. Once again that does not signify the end of music because now we are in the NEW AGE of computers and the Internet. Artists are no longer bound to recording in the major studio's. Using my studio computer with higher specifications than the usual office computer that the general public own, as well as REASON midi sequencer software, I can do everything and more that used to require a week or two recording in an expensive major studio. I used to be an artist associated with the famous ABBEY ROAD Studio in London where the BEATLES pop band recorded their albums and singles back in the pre 1980 days of Vinyl. However, everything I do is now done using REASON on my studio computer. http://propellerhead.refr.cc/neilgideon
In addition to computers revolutionizing how we make music it is also true that computers are revolutionizing how we distribute the music too. You can now access music via the internet and download your purchase as a 320k MP3 data file. The ordinary Compact Disc CD was the equivalent of a 56k MP3 but, nowadays we improve on everything that has ever gone before us by distributing our music as 320k MP3. Super high calibration. There remains no good reason to go on wanting to buy the Vinyl or CD format. So do not waste your time and money buying CD or Vinyl. Why not begin your MP3 collection with the purchase of my most recent single release available to you by clicking on this hyperlink http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/neillove9
Music is a very important part of the human psychosis. With out music we would be just another type of animal. However, as human beings we are able to create and appreciate music. I am of the opinion that it was the discovery of music that set the human evolution into motion. So listening to music can stimulate higher brain functionality and create neurological pathways that would other wise not be existent. In other words music is medicine. An addictive medicine ? Well if you become addicted to listening to music please let me know. We are addicted to eating food, but no one worries about addiction to eating food because food is essential for the continuation of life. I would say the same about music. You really do need music in order to be able to continue your human consciousness. With out music your consciousness would inevitably return to a more primitive animal condition. .
