Profile: Bleeding Through is a metalcore band from Orange County, CA that came together during the Summer of 1998. The formative steps would be taken under the banner of Breakneck; consisting of Brandan 'Sheep' Schieppati (Eighteen Visions/Throwdown), Javier Van Huss(Eighteen Visions), guitarist Scott Danough alongside bass guitarist Chad Tafolla and drummer Troy Born of the band Taken. Line-up changes, witnessing the departure of Van Huss and the recruitment of Mark Jackson to cover bass whilst Tafolla reverted to guitar, pushed the band into a sharper edged Death Metal feel and with that shift the new title of Bleeding Through was duly adopted as they signed up for a full length through Prime Directive Records entitled 'Dust To Ashes' in 2001. Just prior to entering the studio Vijay Kumar of Roundhouse and Cat Burgler took the bass position and Molly Street enrolled as keyboard player. Just as the album saw issue Born quit the band but a quickfire substitute was located in Derek Youngsma of Cast in Stone repute. Severing ties with both Eighteen Visions and Throwdown, Schieppati opted to pursue Bleeding Through as a priority upon completion of the Indecision Records 2002 offering 'Portrait Of The Goddess'. At this juncture the group comprised the guitar pairing of Scott Danough and Brian Leppke, bassist Ryan Wombacher, keyboard player Marta and drummer Derek Youngsma. Promoting the Ulrick Wild produced 'This is Love, This is Murderous' album Bleeding Through embarked upon US nationwide touring pitched in with AFI and Hot Water Music. These dates would propel the band into the American conscience albeit for all the wrong reasons. Travelling from Utah to a show in Colorado the group's vehicle hit black ice on the highway, spinning out of control. A mobile TV unit, there to report on another crash, caught the entire incident on film as their equipment trailer rolled and exploded, showering their instruments and gear across the road. Fortunately the band escaped with only minor injuries. Gigs in December of that year across the West Coast had the band partnered with Champion and Embrace Today. In an unexpected move, Bleeding Through donated their rendition of 'Rocket Queen' to the Guns N' Roses tribute album 'Bring You To Your Knees' released by Inertia Records in March of 2004. The band stepped up for the July/August 2004 'Ozzfest' events, sharing the second stage alongside headline act Slipknot and fellow supports Unearth, Lamb of God, Every Time I Die, Hatebreed, Lacuna Coil and Atreyu. The band shot a promotional video for the album opener 'Love Lost In A Hail of Gunfire' in June with director Chris Sims. A UK October re-issue of 'This Is Love, This Is Murderous' added three bonus live tracks, 'Revenge I Seek', 'Rise' and 'Our Enemies'. November 'Headbanger's Ball III' US touring partners would be Cradle of Filth, Arch Enemy and Himsa. The band embarked upon European touring in February of 2005, supported by Swedes Cult of Luna. In April the group, working with Rob Caggiano as producer, ensconced themselves in Cherokee Studios, Los Angeles to cut a new album billed 'The Truth'. As 'This Is Love, This Is Murderous' passed the 100,000 sales figure in the USA, further touring found the band forging part of the roving 'Strhess Fest' in alliance with Darkest Hour, Zao, Martyr A.D., and Fight Paris commencing early July. Upon completion of these gigs the group hooked up with the 'Vans Warped' tour for a two week stretch. November saw shows with Days of Contempt before the group entered the recording studio to lay down cover versions of Black Flag's 'My War', for use on a tribute album, and Unbroken's 'Proverb'. Promoting 'The Truth', issued in January, the band opened 2006 with US dates throughout February and March backed by Every Time I Die, Between the Buried and Me and Haste the Day. The band also put in a significant appearance on the second stage at the Tool and Metallica headlined 'Download' festival in Castle Donington, UK on June 9th. 'Ozzfest' loomed for the 2006 summer touring season, the group sharing the festival stages with Ozzy Osbourne, System of a Down, Hatebreed, Lacuna Coil, Disturbed, DragonForce, Black Label Society, Unearth, Atreyu, Norma Jean, A Life Once Lost, Strapping Young Lad, The Red Chord, Full Blown Chaos, Walls of Jericho, All That Remains and Between the Buried and Me.
