BlackLite Bonnie grew up drawing her inspiration for alternative fashion from her two all time favorite rock icons, Marilyn Manson and Gwen Stefani. "I recall being about five years old, seeing No Doubt's Simple Kind of Life music video, thinking 'I wanna be her' as I watched Gwen pretending to be a runaway bride, with a raging pink afro." But BlackLite's love for the strange and unusual didn't end there. At the age of twelve, being just a wee pre-teen, BlackLite Bonnie began shopping in stores such as Freaks Lounge, 8th Street Lab, FREAKS, Trash and Vaudeville, Gothic Renaissance, and Religious Sex, through out the East Village of New York City. "By the time I reached high school, my passion for alternative/goth couture began to fester and grow, to the point that it became a walk of life for me. I'd literally save lunch money to afford vinyl outfits from all my favorite shops. Hallways were my runway and streets were my show. With love for all my favorite clothing lines that still remain to this day, all I ever wanted was to shine this passion, express it and share it with the world. I only hoped to influence, inspire, and open minds through a look of fashion I loved." And express it she does. At the age of 16 BlackLite Bonnie was signed to a modeling agency, but soon decided to call it quits. "It was suppressing me in ways you couldn't imagine. I couldn't dye my hair, and every time I had a casting call, I would have to change my outfit and 'tone it down' as my agent once told me." Stepping off the scene for quite some time, BlackLite wasn't on the rise in alt modeling until January of last year, when she joined forces with CandyLust. Finding her inspiration for modeling from the alternative photographer's website all over again, she has been doing nothing but taking off in her newly found alt modeling endeavor, in the last year. Within 12 short months, BlackLite Bonnie has achieved 10 full spread magazine publications, including a feature in a 2013 pinup calendar. Print work is not all she has achieved. Teaming up with a number of alt designers, she has walked in numerous fashion shows in the last year as well. BlackLite Bonnie is also proud to say despite the color of her hot pink hair, she was casted to walk the runway for both Candy Rock Couture and Pretty Pretty Rebel at Small Boutique Fashion Week, this past Fall in NYC. [*How long have you been modeling?*] From 2006-2008 I was to MMG agency, but only worked under contract for a very short time. I decided to quit and pursue my love for alternative fashion and modeling instead.
[*What magazines have you been in?*] I have been featured in a total of ten magazines with full page spreads. I have been featured in Bella Morte, The Cat's Meow, Gorgeous Freaks, Alt Girls, Delicious Dolls, The Modern: Your Life in Retro, Alternative Revolution, Deadly Dessert and am currently looking forward to my first cover for Vanity Press.
