Assemblage 23 got its start in 1988, when at a Depeche Mode concert, founder Tom Shear heard the opening DJ spinning industrial dance music. Prior to hearing this type of music, Shear had been creating primarily synth-pop and post-punk type music, as well as playing bass in a punk band. Hearing industrial music for the first time proved to be something of an epiphany for Shear, as he had finally found a form of music that combined the electronic sounds he loved from his synth-pop background with the heavier, darker aggression punk represented. Assemblage 23's Studio albums include "Contempt", "Failure", "Defiance" and "Storm." Currently residing on metropolis records, Assemblage 23 has become one of the most successful industrial / ebm artists in the world. Pre-orders & Soundclips for New Assemblage 23 Maxi-single Soundclips for all 5 tracks on the upcoming Assemblage 23 maxi-single "Binary" (out March 20th) can now be found in the "Listen" section. Pre-orders for the maxi-single are also now being accepted through the Assemblage 23 Online Store. All orders placed through this site will ship one week ahead of the release date for early delivery! Items ordered through this site can also be signed on request. New Assemblage 23 merchandise will be available around the time of the album release date (April 24th) including new shirts, a new sticker, and a poster. |  |  | Work Completes on New Assemblage 23 Album
Work has wrapped up on the new Assemblage 23 album, entitled "Meta". The ten track album has turned out to be A23's most varied-sounding release to date containing everything from hard-hitting EBM to smooth, lush ballads, and many surprises in between. The album will be preceded by the 5-track maxi-single "Binary", which will be released at the end of March on Metropolis Records in the US, and Accession Records in Europe and elsewhere. Pre-orders for the single are now being taken by Metropolis Records, Storming the Base, and Music Non Stop at the moment. Pre-orders from the A23 website will be available at the end of February. Two short samples from the maxi single are now available for listening on the Metropolis Records website. Minute long samples of every track will be available on this site in mid-February, with album samples to come in mid-March. Full European and US tours are planned, but nothing has been booked yet, so we have no info to report yet. Keep an eye on the 'LIVE' section for live news as it becomes available.
